selling stuff on livejournal

for those of you that have selling journals on lj: how sucessful is it and what tips could you give me to sucessfully sell stuff on LJ too.

I've been using livejournal.com as a promotional tool since 2004 and, so far, the best results I've received is when I promote myself on MANY communities. When I leave it to just my journal, I rarely sell anything. However, when I promote to the communities, I have moderate success. I'm still working the kinks out and would also like to be more successful at this.
