A very important step in improving your chess skills is to actually READ chess books or learn from chess programs.
Why?
Let's put it like this. How many hours do you play chess? Alright. That's how much experience and knowledge you get.
What about from Chess Books or Chess Programs?
Many years of experience, knowledge and studies have been put into those. Which would equal to even more than a lifetime's worth of playing.
Reading, though maybe boring for some of you.. is a very important step for you to break the "amateur" barrier and take your chess to the next level. Reading increases your knowledge, puzzles improve your tactics.
Thanks to technology, now we have access to an even more fun and engaging way to "read" chess books, such as the ChessMaster. Chess engines, PGN readers, all of these stuffs made chess learning so easy and effective.
So, how do YOU feel about these chess books and programs? Do you use it? Do you REALLY learn from them?
