earth quakes

when do earth quakes occur? No. of times Indonesia has suffered from this? Most of the people in Andaman and Nicobar islands are no more.

I live in California and the earth shakes everyday. The majority of the earthquakes are small and people don't feel them. Everytime we have a large earthquake people move out of California but the majority of people get used to them.
