I thought it might be interesting to see how many people respond to this, first off who know what MUSH is, and secondly that like me, is a regularly player of these fine socializing games. Really any online text game will do, MUD's MUCK's they're all the same really, tell me what you play, how long you've been playing etc, i was sad to see that there isn't a MUSH interest group on this site, maybe we should change that.

Ring or Power!
As if you didn't know. *Winks.*
I recommend it to anyone who comes across this lovely little discussion, really.
Shangrila falls second upon my list of places to visit in the lovely creative, text-based world.
But, for more structure, like that of Dungeons and Dragons, I have found the MUD called Valheru to be very entertaining.
I've been playing MUD's and the like for an estimated two years. But, I have been RPing much longer. Starting with the legendary D&D, I later found yahoo chatrooms that were specifically designated to the creation and playing of imaginary characters. In searching for a website that would allow me to do much the same, I fell upon the wonderful creation of MUD's, MUX's, MUSH's, etc. And, needless to say, I'm addicted.
It's a great little reprieve from everyday life. A way to take to both write, and be part of a unfolding little story. A tale that's twists and turns you will never completely see coming, seeing as there are other players that help you develope the entire storyline.
Well, I'm sure everyone has had enough of my babbling. Take care all.
Mwah!

I've been playing on MU*s for several years now. I started out playing on a D&D based MUD called RealmsMUD, then found other types of games that were not D&D based, but roleplay based. I fell in love with creating a character and playing out their lives based on who they interact with, what happens to them, etc. I've played in Shangrila, P&P, Akashat and another game that ended, Peninsulae SPQR.
Now I maintain and play eight characters in Shangrila, and it keeps me quite entertained and happy.

Heh, I was playing muds back in 1993 when the internet was still something that only geeks knew about. My taste in such things has evolved over the years but, oddly enough, friends that I made "way back when" are still around, alive and somewhat kicking. I don't think many people know what these proggies are all about ... perhaps a string of posts about them will help sway some to the 'dark text type'.

I started with RPing when I was about 20...not online, because I didn't know about it. I did TTRP... and it was great. I started with Star Wars, and the gm of the TT group decided to make a mush out of what we'd started, so I got into that. I've actually only been on the online stuff for about 2 years. I started there, and then progressed to Shangrila. Oh, how my eyes were opened to the things that were possible on the net, that I was interested in! Anyway.. After that, it was more things like MUSH's, not MUX's.. Into the Black, Star Wars:Imperial Awakenings, then the last one was Serenity. All great mushes, but also very melodramatic. Always had issues with that, I found. So then, I got into RoP.. and I've been having fun on there :) it's been another eye opener, and I have a very close, personal friend to thank for that.
I have to agree, there should be a MUSH interest panel. How do we get one started?
