When you become a member of a church do you attend Sunday services and that's it? Or do you volunteer, become active in ministries, get to know your fellow members? If you're an active member do you enjoy what you do or do your feel like you're doing too much?

Yes I do . I am a member of my Church The Church of Scotland , I am on the board of my church and I atend the meetings , I have a year of duty at the moment because I look after my parents who both have Alzheimers , My son Ross ( on this site as rosdcurran) is an elder in our church , I am very proud of him as He has CP and I am sure not many people with CP are Church elders ( but then I might be wrong ), I like going to church as we have a small church and we all know each other by first names , it is lovely , just like an extended family , the church attendances seem to be dying and I think this is a real shame xx

What is a "CP"? That is something I'm not familar with being from the US.
Sorry to hear that both of your parents have Alzheimers.
I attend a small church also and the same thing is happening. The older members are dying and we're not bringing young families in. Our Pastor of 13 years just left too, so it's difficult to see my church family going through some tough times. I do like my church for that reason, it is my second family. Please pray that things will get better for us soon.

I'm sorry for not knowing that! I thought in the context you used it, CP had to do with being an elder. Sorry for the mix-up.

Isn't it wonderful when you feel led to do ministries? It makes me happy to hear how God is working in your life. I've seen it and been through that feeling too. When you're led to do something you don't feel like there's enough time in the day to do it all! You want to continue working and you enjoy it so much! God Bless You too!

Our church stresses working in the areas of spiritual gifts, and so I work in the teaching areas, since my gifts are teaching and administrative. I agree with our pastor that if a person is working on jobs he or she feels called to do and that God has gifted them with the abilities to do, that the jobs are not burdensome but enjoyable. It's tough to feel overwhelmed when we remember we are doing God's work.

I love to take care of God's people. I mostly enjoy working with the young people. I am the youth president, choir mistress, a member of the praise team and a sunday school teacher. I love doing all these tasks after all the church is here to help so we have to be obedient and do whatis required of us.
I also operate a homework centre whihc helps the less fortunate children in basic reading and writign skills and assist them with their homework. It is a joy to help!
I love to sing too so I just nejoy workshipping GOd with new songs I have learnt and teaching my young people these songs too.
