So, it has finally happened... I have been scammed on ebay!!!
I bid on a bluetooth headset for my bf, wich i was supposed to give to him on his birthday 12of april. I won the auction and after contact with the seller I paid for the item.
Well now a few days later I have recived an email from ebay saying that the seller has been removed and that they stronly advice me not to pay..
It is not that it was a fortune - just alot of my Mylot winnings - and also the fact that I now don´t have the gift I so desperately wanted to give him...
That´s whats making me sad.. guess I have to go out shopping now =(
I´ve never been scammed on ebay before so I guess it was just to wait for..
Have you even been scammed on ebay?

I'm sorry about what happened marie. I never purchase anything at ebay. I remember once I read a complainant stating that she had been scammed of her money too. She paid $200 for a brand new laptop but the seller disappeared. If I were you, try not to purchase anything on ebay anymore. I seriously doubted the credibility of the sellers there. :/

The strange thing was that he has 100% positive judgement and all people that hadx rated him talked about great products and great and fast shipping and so on... Maybe they were his partners in crime =)

that is not how it works. You pay the person to his paypal account and he sends the product when he sees the funds in his account. this is the way it always worked what i know...

I don't think it would happen because the seller can't get the money before you receive the product and confirm that to ebay. If you have not got the product you bid or you are not satisfied with it, the seller can't get the money from ebay.
I know the common process to buy someting on Ebay is: you bid, then you win, send the money to ebay, at this time the seller can't get the money, then you wait for the product, and you confirm that when you receive the product and are satisfied with it, then the seller can get money from ebay.
I don't think that scam can exist during this process. uless you send your confirmation before you get the product.
good luck to you!

I would suggest that you take this up with ebay admin, report the issue and see how they may be able to refund your money. The thing is, there are spam emails that are supposed to be from ebay but are actually not. So it would be wise to ask from ebay itself. I lost a bid once and I received an email saying that the highest bidder had issues and that I was the 2nd highest so I was being offered the chance to purchase. I reported this to ebay and it did turn out to be a scam. Good luck and I hope you get your money back

I know abotu those spams, however this was also an alert in my ebayaccount so I do think that it is from ebay. the auction has also been removed and so has the seller.
I have emailed the seller, asking for his view and have aslos ome tips from ebay on how to reclaim my money.

Fortunately it has not happened to me despite the fact that I have bought several items from there and spent several hundreds of pounds on some of them.
This type of thing is so infuriating. It does not matter if it was only a small amount, it is the thought that someone has taken your money in this manner that really counts.

I agree - and still it´s money and it was also for a special thing to my bf.
I am angry - but mostly dissapointed in people. He also contacted me after the auction and asked for my adress and so on... And now this!!!

If you paid for the item through Paypal you can get your money back, you can also file with eBay and tell them that this item is paid, they will probably tell you to contact Paypal.

I was scammed last December. It was a buy it now auction, I bought one item, paid for it immediately and then didn't hear anything from the seller. I also didn't received anything, so I started a dispute with Paypal. They concluded it in my favor, but the seller had removed all funds from her account so I couldn't get a refund. It wasn't a lot of money, but it's still money to me and I was very upset as I'd had a bad feeling about the seller, but decided to give her a chance. Never again! The same seller was also removed from ebay as she did the same thing to other buyers, but then I found her again under a different name and eBay removed that name too. She's still selling the same items on a forum with a different Paypal address, but Paypal doesn't seem to be as willing to help me out as eBay did.

I got scammed once by ebay seller in UK. I bought something from him and he had pretty good feedback and had over 5,000 sales. He sent it to somewhere else other than my address.
I got the receipt saying he sent it to some USA address and was confused because I live in the Netherlands. (Only 1 address on my paypal and ebay) I tried to talk with him about it and he tried to act like it was eBays fault and actually told me I should ask them for refund. Pfft. I was so mad so I was going to leave negative feedback because he wouldn´t work it out at all. Then I notice the seller had 10 negatives all about not receiving item. I also noticed he retalliated HORRIBLY on their feedbacks. He was downright nasty to the people he burned before. Out of 5,000 he only had 10 bad I thought maybe those were just grumpy customers but I noticed his retalliation remarks were obviously lies because he was mad they left nasty feedback.
This is why he doesn´t have many negative feedbacks. People are scared t tell the truth on him because he will get revenge on theirs. I think there should be some srt of block on that so people can be free to be honest about it.

Ebay has told me to file a complaint with paypal as well, but the risk of the person still having his money there is probably small =(

Since you can comment youself on the negative feedback. i wouldn´t mind taking one just to be able to give him one. people just have to check him out after =)
Scamming is so bad though and I just wished that there was an easy way of getting them!

Aw Marie... I am sorry to read about this. All I remember is buying and selling a book or 2 on ebay. A few dollar thingies and no, I haven't been scammed before on ebay. I wouldn't want to. :P
Did that seller have a good reputation? I would want to go through the comments written about him to make sure he is credible. After all, that's about all I can use to judge if he will run away with my money. So did you do your due diligence or not? :PP

I did go through his reputation and he had 100% positive feedback. Sure he had not been a member for more than a few months but he had sold alot and people were giving him great feedback.. I always check that out before i even bid...

I've been buying and selling on eBay for years now. I've only had one problem, and it was resolved in my favor thru PayPal (that's how I always pay). I paid immediately after the close of the purchase, and the person never sent what I had paid for. I filed a complaint thru PayPal, and I did receive a refund into my PayPal account. You should contact both eBay and PayPal constantly until one of them returns your money. I have a separate folder on my computer for all eBay dealings and they are not deleted until each particular deal is entirely completed at both ends and feedback left and received. Also, any emails to and from the seller/buyer are also put into that folder. That way I always have the backup I'll need in the event of any problems. Good luck.

I ahve filed a complaint with paypal coz thats what ebay told me to do. i hope that i will get a refund but i am doubting it though. The seller probably checked out all the money from his account.
I am glad to hear that u have positive experiances using ebay though!

That is too bad. How did you pay for it?? If you went through paypal you can dispute the payment and they will investigate it for you. They will remove the funds from his account and reimburse you. I know this cause I use to sell on ebay. This is unless things have changed. Paypal has a safeharbour section and you should be able to get resolution there. Good luck.

yes!
i bought a dieselpants, and after one washing (it was a white one with a black and red stripe on the sides) the red stripe was alover the pants so it was a fake one!
i reported this person, but i paid below 25 dollars so my money was gone! ebay has an ensurance for this but above 25 dollars at that time! and i gave negative feedback but it was a powerseller so it didn't hurt him at all!

I am so sorry to hear about this. I think this happens in e-bay not that often. We bought some item from e-bay and our experience with them are good. But you never know, some people are there to scam. We never sold anything on e-bay.
I hope you will find something nice to give your boyfriend the birthday gift.

I have NEVER had a problem with eBay, having said that, i am very careful about what i buy from there - i don't trust anything that is normally expensive but sold very cheap, i don't buy from new eBayers unless it's something of little value anyway.
I usually stick to things like clothing, stationery, DVDs & such.
How did you pay for the item? If it was through PayPal - then just request a refund - then you just state that you made payment & the eBayer made no response & had their eBay account was closed, PayPal can still recover the funds from the seller's PayPal account.
I'm sorry to hear this has happened, however, there's no reason the seller wont send the item anyway - my account was suspended once coz they thought there was suspiscious activity but i still posted out all the things i had sold. Maybe you'll be lucky like that too.
Try & file a dispute about non receipt of an item, you might get lucky!

I have filed for a dispute and we will see whathappens. The thing is that even if his account has been cancelled he should be able to reply to direct emails from me and he don´t do that either!!!

I would not say I have been scammed, but I have seen a lot of items on there that couldn't be ahything but a scam and or were worded to trick people. I have had some people who were buyers not pay, but I never sent them the item either so...

I have been done of ebay and i was sick of it, i sold alot of diffrent tickets and alot of people said they never received them when they did.
I lost the receipts for them and i could not get another one for them so i lost all the money, everyone gets scammed on ebay alot of the time but i guess that is all part and parcel with the site.
I also dont like paypal either and they are both owned by ebay so what can we do, if we want paid they we need to use it.
I would have to say though you might not be scammed maybe the person never paid his fee's and you might get the fee's back.

I feel sorry for you because it seems that there are a lot of low lifes out there they will, in effect, steal from other people and that is exactly what you have experienced. You bought in good faith and now lose out.
Touch wood, I have not been scammed as a buyer, although I have bought some things that turned out to be rubbish quality. I have found it worse as a seller. I occasionally sell DVDs on ebay, ones I make myself and mostly they get shipped to USA. I have been "had" a few times by people that cannot or do not read the listing properly and then blame me. I don't know why some people find it so hard to read a clear listing or email beforehand.
It is also annoying when people fail to leave feedback as well because you dont know if they got it, don't know if they liked it etc.
Anyway, I hope this doesn't put you off ebay, and I hope you are able to get your money back, or the thief that conned you somehow gets cumuppance. Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I haven't been scammed on ebay but I have heard of it happening. I do know that the same person can "join" ebay under a different email address and "sell" all over again. Ebay does not have enough security in place. I always check the sellers rating and if they don't allow people to see it, I don't buy from that seller.
