I have seen him only once in the Reality tour 2003 but I have friends who have seen him during every stage of his long career.

I saw his reality tour and his Earthing tour.
I saw The Reality Tour at the Greek Theatre...that night when he went past curfew..it was the best...and the Earthling tour I saw at the Universal Amphatheatre...I love both those venues...they are not too big.

i saw him a long time ago, in the 80s on the Serious Moonlight tour... the show was okay, but not as much as i had been expecting - entirely mea culpa, i had just spent so much time imagining how it would be, and it didn't live up to that.
i haven't been to very many concerts - i've found that i don't enjoy live music as much as studio work - i won't even listen to live albums.

I saw him in the 80's on his Glass Spider tour - in I think 1987 - actually saw him for this in two states. It was incredible. He is not just a singer he is an incredible entertainer. What a show he puts on.
His songs included his, Glass Spider/ Day in Day out/Bang Bang/Loving the Alien/Time and many more. AS all his concerts I'm sure, it was an over the top spectacle - some people think too over the top - but not for die-hard Bowie fans like me!
I recommend the video - or by now - the DVD of the taped version.
Enjoy.
Definitely not your garden variety rock concert. No one can beat a performance by Bowie, he doesn't just out there and dance around and sing, he brings us entertainment to engage our senses and our imaginations. A feast for the eyes, ears and mind.

I saw him in Melbourne in the Rod Laver arena - i think it was in 2003. It was great, he really puts on a show. A few costume changes, a great set, fantastic band as well. He did a fantastic version of Under Pressure with his Bass player singing the part of Freddy Mercury. She has the most amazing voice.
This was part of his "Reality" tour which I think you can get on DVD if you're interested. Definitely don't pass up an opportunity to see him.
