I've been studying Scientology on and off for over twenty years. It's basically a set of principles that help you in life, that guide you to more success and more harmony with life in general.
It's "scio" (knowledge) and "logos" (study of) - "the study of knowledge"
Unfortunately on the Net there's a lot of misinformation and crap about it.
I've put together a resource site on it, at http://www.liveandgrow.org
...but the best way to learn about it is from a book, which you can get at any bookstore or Amazon.com - or your local library.

Actually scientology has nothing to do with science. I would say it's more similar to science fiction.
A good book to check out is "Kingdom of the Cults" by Walter Martin. It has a lot of info on scientology along with other cults.
It's an interesting belief but definitely a hoax. I wouldn't get into it if I were you.
