The MyLotian Paradigm - Sealing your own opinion while demanding for others

I notice that many myLot members starts topic by asking opinions of other members in whatever subject but they themselves do not provide any.
I believe that when you write a subject in the "subject field" in the myLot form, you must have some sort of opinion on that particular subject. Why don't you share it with us, and then rightfully ask our opinion. Is it not the right and respectful way of starting a discussion?
I saw just now a poster asking "opinion on Hilary Clinton's presidential run". He just ask our opinion on this without giving his. Does he really expect us to respond on that?
What irks me most is that some of these posts have very interesting subjects which I would really want to discuss on.
Speak your mind people. Then only ponder on others.

I guess this is fair to say. I guess I don't want to share my opinion right away because I don't want to influence the answers. I give my opinions when answering posts. I guess I'll have to think this one over. I've been going back to answers and replying to post, thought that would be my way. This of course is a valid opinion though, and like all opinions I will consider it with an open mind.
Thanks for getting your thoughts out there and inspiring great discussions.

Your view could be justified if the said person presented his question and give some insight or compare two possibilities, for example.
How, what I notice is one liners like what I saw just now
"I like tantra. What do you think of it?"
How do you justify this one ;)

Oh yeah - I've seen those. I do give two sides that I've seen out and about there and ask which side of the fence others stand on and why. I really like this site for that reason. I love hearing how others think - if they do - and why. I used to open these discussions with frieds long ago but being in a new state(after several new states I've moved to due to work/gypsy nature) with a new baby - I just love being able to open up discussions and see what comes about!
With friends I reserved my opinions sometimes if I knew that they were likely either to agree with me because of their personality/feelings for me or automatically go against what I say because that's just their nature as well. It was more fun that way. Plus - I already know what I think, the fun and interesting thing is finding how and what others think! Then sharing my opinion, or if what they said made sense, looking into the subject further on my own to see if perhaps I want to revise my own opinion.
BTW, nice to see someone who doesn't swim in shallow waters.

Yeah i agree in a discussion forum like mylot we should share our thoughts & opinions with fellow mylotians. So that others know your stand on the subject you are discussing. Besides in good quality discussion we should be as descriptive as possible stating frankly our views on the topic so others could come with their opinions. And it will reflects on reputation of posters too as quality of discussion matters a lot both in terms of earnings & ratings too. Have a great day folks. :)

I hadn't taken much notice of this but you are right. I just responded to a discussion on whether I minded what other people said but they hadn't said how they felt about this from their own point of view.
