I am not going to start a browser war here. I am just going to assume that the entire IT-savvy world is using Firefox. If you are not yet there, there is still hope. Please seek it at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox . *chuckle* And if you are using Firefox, you will need to add on extensions. I used the word "need" because not loading Firefox with extensions is really not doing it justice. Extensions literally e-x-p-a-n-d the capability of this already-powerful browser. So if you are using Firefox, do you use extensions? What are your favorites? If you are not, why have you not switched from e.g. Internet Explorer? I can tell you that I have tested myLot on both browsers, and Firefox is A LOT faster than Internet Explorer. So if you haven't switched, I would strongly urge you to. In fact, just let me know if you need help switching. :P PS.: I have just added an article to my blog detailing my top 8 favorite extensions. If you are interested, you can check out http://lordwarwizard.blogspot.com/2007/04/8-firefox-extensions-you-dont-want-to.html . If you have a Digg account, help me digg the article too. :P If you have a problem viewing this page, it is also mirrored at http://hubpages.com/_lww/hub/8FavFirefoxExtensions . ^^

Honestly, I tried firefox before and I didn't really like it but then again, I am very resistant to change. I couldn't even tell you why I didn't like it, I just didn't. But thats not to say I can't be talked into trying it again. Not today but maybe soon.

Hmm.. this is very strange. Are you aware for instance that it is only a 5MB download for Firefox? Might you have ensured that there is no virus/spyware on your computer?

I used to use Firefox when I had my old computer. I love it. But when I got my new computer it had Internet Explorer again and I never bothered to switch back. And then the newest Internet Explorer with tabs and such came out, and I like this one a lot. However, you're really making me want to go back to Firefox again... Maybe I will re-download it. :P

I switched from using Safari to Firefox and Firefox is doubly quicker tha Safari, in fact Mylot was so slow on Mylot at the beginning I was losing patience with it. I have to hold my hands up tho' and must confess that when you talk about using extensions with Firefox I don't have a clue, so any tips would be welcome my friend to maximize Firefox full potential for me. Thanks

GOODNESS. Please go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox and look at "extensions". See what you like and grab them. Some good ones are listed in my article. If you are not using extensions, you are missing out so much on what Firefox can offer... :P

When I changed to broadband I had trouble accessing my accounts page with my ISP. When I rand them for help they guided me through downloading Mozilla Firefox. I didn't like the idea and at first I only used it to access my account details with my ISP. I use Firefox all the time now, and find it much faster and better. As far as I know I don't have any extensions, but I'll certainly check out your suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Honey, I have already added a lot of extensions ever since you gave me the link to download the Firefox. I think the only one I didn't add is the monkey greaser (did I say it right?. Should I still check your hubpages? "grin"

Add only the *necessary* ones you use. I am glad you are making full use of your "new" Firefox. I am so proud of you, baby. *Hugs*

No, I have never used extensions or add ins with any browser. I use Internet Explorer on my desktop with Windows XP and Firefox on my laptop with Xandros, but in both cases I prefer to keep the browser in it's original configuration.

i use both IE and Firefox. i agree that firefox is a lot faster then ie in opening pages but i think it's ie which is more suitable for mylot!:) and the reason behind is that i have to face strange problems when i type while posting on mylot using firefox. i don't know if it's only with me or others too have this problem but it's really very irritating. otherwise i m with u on the greatness of firefox;)and yes i use some extensions which r available with it. my favorite is video downloader:)which i use pretty often.

it's a little hard to explain the poblem with typing on firefox but i would try to explain.it appears when i try to edit something in the post. generally it would be as simple as just putting/omitting the word where u want to but in firefox when i select a particular word some other word would be selected or the typed letter would mingle in some other word.confusing isn't it? but it happens only with mylot when i post something.

I am guessing that the myLot page has not finish loading. Check the status bar. If you try to type before the page finishes loading, then the text might jump off. You don't encounter this elsewhere probably because myLot is slower than elsewhere. ROFL!! :P

Basically I have a translations extension and a spell checker extension. I really like firefox and I USED TO LIKE explorer, I use both, unfortunately they now look like firefox and I liked using both browsers for their distinct features. I find explorer way to irritating now. I might see into more extensions, firefox is real neat!

When I installed it it wasn't included, not that I know of, plus I have in English and in Portuguese! Maybe I installed the English one before the new version, I'm not sure!

Go to help about. Check that you are using version 2. Rather, just do the upgrade to the latest version. It is very fast. You will then get the spell checker.

Why use a spell checker? There is one already in-built into Firefox 2...

I like your blog. I do have firefox but I don't have any of the extensions. I did have the instructions once to speed it up which I did but since then I have had to reinstall everything so lost all that.

Nice extension list. I just installed the IE tab one for those pesky sites that require it. My add-ons are actually nothing like what you had listed. My fave add-on list is more centered on daily info. -FireFTP (ftp client within firefox) -Forecastfox (weather display) -Gmail Space (lets you use Gmail as file storage) -ScribeFire (blog editor) -Sun Cult (sunrise/sunset/moonrise/moonset/moonphase)

I don't use Firefox, I use IE. Mainly because I don't know that much about computers and its easier to stick with the browser I already have and know how to use, and I would have no idea how to get Firefox.

Yes, I have a few Firefox extensions installed. These are DownThemAll, FoxLingo, KeyScrambler, and GetVideo. Among these extensions, I find KeyScrambler the most useful. That is because it protects my usernames and passwords. It encrypts my keystrokes so even if a keylogger gets installed in my computer despite having an antivirus running in the background, my login information are still safe.

This KeyScrambler is very interesting! But can you trust that company? I don't know.. but I know I don't have any keyloggers in my computer. It is very clean - free of virus and spyware.

so far I have just upgraded to IE7, but have tried to download firefox a couple of times as I have heard that it is a lot better. I am currently trying to download it again through the link that you provided. ;0) Hopefully it will work this time. anything that I can find that will make my surfing experience faster and easier is a plus in my book.

No no, if you want to download the Firefox browser itself, use this link instead: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox The links I have given out are all for extensions. You need to install Firefox first. Use the link above. ^^
