....and the sales person is constantly following you and asking if you need any help at all and if you are finding things okay? I mean if i need help i usually ask for it. Sometimes i get paranoid thinking they might be 'watching' me and then i start looking around and thinking, 'okay, now they really think i'm gonna try and knick something'. I wish they would just leave you alone.!

Absolutely I agree, and what i hate more is when i go into a store and want help, and the sales assistants are busy talking to each other or on the phone, or doing something and dont make themselves available to help, this is made worse when i stand right there in front of them looking at them in they eye waiting and they still carry on organising their social lives or something. Then when you say excuse me you get poor service, its almost like saying "Hurry up, so i can get back to my conversation"

I've worked in retail a lot, and there's reasons why they do this. 1. They work on commission and their coworkers like to "steal" customers, so they get pushy-that is dumb anyways because you won't buy anything. 2. They are required to say hi, etc. and keep and eye on you. Many stores have their employees chant some weird mantra every morning like "greet within 5 feet and five seconds", I used to hate that and felt like a dork lol. 3. They think you are shoplifting, you might have a large bag or large coat. A few stores I worked at gave me a reward if I reported a shoplifter.

I agree with you. I've even left stores without buying what I wanted, I was so annoyed by a pushy salesperson. I also hate salespeople that try to force their opinion on you - like trying to make you buy something you don't want.

Yes, it annoys the heck out of me. Usually, though, I smile politely and say "I'm fine thank you. If I need help, I'll ask." That usually gives them the hint and they go on their way. I figure it's their job to be helpful, and they're trying. It's only when they insist on continuing to be a pain in the rear that I get snippy about it.
