How Do You Answer Your Phone?

Do you answer you phone on the first or second ring? I try to answer my phone on the second ring. Even if I am right next to the phone, I don't like to answer on the first ring, because the call could have been a wrong number or an accidental call. Even if I am expecting an important call, I wait. Sometimes you need to use that first ring to get ready to answer the phone. Like clearing your throat or turning off the television. I do not like to talk on the phone while there is noise, I like to give the caller my undivided attention. To me, that shows the caller that you have respect for them and that you are interested in what they have to say. I have one friend, who answers her phone, while still talking to someone else in the room. That is so rude to me. Then I have another friend who never answers her phone until she recognizes the person on the answering machine and decides that she wants to talk to you. If not, she will just ignore you, even though she is home. I guess for her it is cheaer than Caller I.D. But if the person doesn't leave a voicemail, then I guess she misses that call all together. When I am at her apartment, I get a little irritated that the phone just rings and rings, I guess because I remember when she has done it to me.

I hate answering the phone. I prefer to let the machine pick it up and then call back later if I feel like it.

Our phone here at the office is always in auto answer modem. When a call comes in all we have to do is talk. Ü

I answer the phone as soon as I get to it. Wheather or not it's the first ring or whatever I always answer. It drives me nuts if I don't get to the phone before the answering machine and the caller just hangs up. I don't have caller Id because I don't monotor my calls so there is no need to have it. I'll bite the bullet and answer wheather or not it's someone I want to talk to.

well, I would like to pick up my mobile after two or three rings in the mean time i verify the number whether it is from my list or a new number. This helps me to answer or rather I can say I mentally prepare for answer to the particular number.

First, let me begin by saying that I always answer my phone for family and friends. I always want to be there for them for any reason so I only use the caller I.D. for them to identity who it is. However, I use caller I.D. to screen all the rest of my calls for telemarketers and anyone looking to sell me something.

Um, I answer the phone whenever I get to it...if its the first ring, then so be it. I really don't think too much about those sorts of things. I will turn down the TV first if its on though, and I won't answer my phone if I'm talking to someone unless its urgent. To be honest, at the moment I hardly ever answer the phone unless I know who ti is, but thats because I'm avoiding someone. Heh.

It all depends on the person who is calling, if he/she is the one i'm not bothered about then i pick up the call after several rings... but if i'm expecting call from someone then i take up the call on the first ring itself...

Well first i see who it is, if its someone I know i'll pick it up right as i get to it, or if it someone I don't know I just let the answering machine get it =]

I wait for the caller ID to come up. I don't answer any calls from people I don't know. I have a real problem saying "no" so I don't like calls from solicitors.

no...i will wait for second or third ring.because it may be a miss call (we call a miss call when one of my friend miss me).it is not meant a call just a ring.it helps us stay in touch even without spending a penny! also as you said there is a chance of accidental or wrong call!

We don't have a home phone, instead all of us have our own cell phones (getting rid of the landline helped us save a lot of money). When the phone rings, I answer it as soon as I can. I know when I call people, I don't like to wait while it rings and rings and they take their sweet time answering.. So when I answer I pick up as soon as possible. However, I don't answer the phone unless I know the caller and have them recorded into my cell phone, so it'll say their name when it comes up. Even if the caller has the same area code as me, I still won't answer, because I get prank calls all the time and it creeps me out and I'm sick of it. So I'll usually just ignore it umless I know who the caller is.

For me, it depends upon my mood. I have caller ID and like to see who it is before I answer. Then I can decide if I answer it or not. Then if it's a salesperson, I can ignor the call. I really hate to be rude to telemarketers, but sometimes they just won't take no for an answer. We all have cell phones at our house, so if it's a family member, they usually just use the cell phone. My youngest daughter loves to pick up the phone as quick as possible. The other two kids just ignor the phone since their friends just call them on their cell phone. Now at work, I like answering before the second ring is done. I hate it when you call a business and the phone rings several times before someone picks up. Don't you think with caller ID, that most people wait for the ID to show up before they answer?

When the phone rings I make my way to the closest phone and answer it right away. When I answer it all i say is Hello... But if it is a important call i do the same thing think what im gonig to say clear my throat and answer it. If its a emergency i quickly answer it saying whats wrong or soemthing like that.

I usually take my phone after some two or three rings. First, i will see who is calling, if it is known person or not. If the number is new, i would think whom it may be and then take the phone.

Unless I am expecting a call, I let the answer phone pick it up more often than not. If it is my cell phone, I always answer it as soon as I hear it ring as it is always someone I know - they're the only ones who have my cell phone number.

I answer the phone as soon as I can. If I know the phonecall is for me I directly answer it on the first ring so that no one from the house would answer it first.

Most of the time I don't hear them (or I pretend I don't hear ) and the voice mail do the work. I don't like phone calls, they always ring on the wrong moment.

The first thing i do when i'm being called is look who's calling, if i don't know the number i don't pick up the phone. If it's someone i know but i don't want to talk to them i usually say: "this is the refrigerator of ____ my owner isn't in right now, if you want i can fill in a post-it and stick it on my door for you, leave your message after the beep" if i do want to talk to them i just say hi ___ Talking...
