DVD players and TVs in the front seat of cars

What do you think of the way people are designing their cars now? How that show 'Pimp My Ride' does things? Do you think it's more dangerous? I know that I do. I think that people should leave the movies in the back, where they won't be distracted, always taking their eyes off the road to watch a movie. People are distracted enough lately, especially while in traffic, and don't need anything added to it. It's the same thing with stereo systems that you can hear bumping over 2 blocks away. That's illegal here in Minnesota, and rightfully so. It's too loud, and you can't hear if something is going on, like a siren from a squad or ambulance. What do you think?

I may have seen maybe half an episode of Pimp My Ride in my lifetime, and the very idea of someone putting a tv in the -front- seat of a car baffles me... let me get this straight, there are people who actually need to be watching tv while driving? That can't be legal... and if it is i'm going to have to write to my congressman about that one. That's just ridiculous.
As for really loud sub-woofers in cars it gets pretty obnoxious rather fast. I'm all for adjusting the balance on one's stereo, but if all you want is to blast your bass so that the entire car shakes and rattles (which is all you really hear), then clearly you've had your head next to a speaker for too long.
If one puts such monstrous sub-woofers in their car to make a statement, the only conceivable statement that could be is "I'm an idiot, hear me roar."
Ahh... that felt good.

*laughs hard* Oh, that was refreshing. I agree. I have a term for people like that, thanks to where I grew up: Ghetto Fabulous. It's all you hear around there, even with the noise pollution laws, which loud systems like that fall under.

yes those are illegal here in minnesota but alot still do it, just like constant talking on the cell phones. They all are dangerous and the enforcement on these should be doubled, If I am not mistaken they trying to pass a law if you are on cellphone and get in a accident, that you are at fault automatically which is only right cause you can't really concentrate on driving and the vehicles around me while on the phone, or watching tv. this is just nuts that they even made these devices to be able to put in vehicles. just shows and proves how fast paced our lives have become.

i agree no movies in the front seat...i'm not real fond of them in the back seat either ...what happened to enjoying the scenery or reading a book...we are raising who need constant stimulation..they have no idea how to just sit and be still....

I think the dvd players are Ok if people are only using it when the vehicle is not moving but unfortunately I dont think people would. It is a distraction and for some people it doesnt take much to distract them.

I can't believe people would be watching movies while driving, but they do. I have heard of people getting in accidents because they would get so involved with the movie. For me, I can't concentrate on anything besides driving. I can't even listen to books on tape because I would miss large portions of it because I needed to concentrate on something on the road.
When cars can drive themselves, then it would be OK to have all those things in the front seat.

DVD players and TVs inside cars should be placed behind the drivers seat and not in the dashboard. My car has this portable DVD player and TV but i only use it when we travel very long and when there are kids around. This DVD player and TV is placed behind the drivers seat and usually kids are watching and not the driver. With the DVD player playing while traveling, kids can watch and will behave because they are concentrating on what they are watching. Some kids get bored while traveling and they sometimes cry and makes you stop and distracts you while driving. Sometimes accident happen when kids gets so wild in the car. well going back to the topic, for adults who just designs their car and watch while driving, that is a NO! NO!. YOu can be distracted and accidents may happen. Why not stay at home and watch TV rather than traveling and watch TV. Safety first. Goodluck!
