300 - One Of The Worst Movies I have EVER seen!!

Ok, I really don't get the hype about this movie being good at all. I have read some rave reviews, saw the trailer months ago, but once I saw it, I kept thinking, what in God's name is this whole mess about??!It's just "eye candy" with all the computer graphics and creative fight scenes, the blood shed was kinda cool.
Gerard Butler is a great actor. Lena Headey doing a nude scene FINALLY and Zack Snyder shows once again he is a unique director, GOD!! 300, in no way, shape or form has any depth to it all!!
Maybe the Persians are barbarians and the Greek are honorable fighters with nice abs..so what?
I am so amazed @ how people's positive thoughts and opinions, maybe even their WHOLE minds can be won with such computer generated RUBBISH!

Well I guess that's your opinion. I thought it was a sweet movie, both the acting, the special effects, and the whole plot of the movie. It was a historical event so the plot is pretty much set. I think it was artfully done and I thought the acting was great.
What was your latest "good" movie?

thanx 4 the comment, friend.
Well I haven't seen any good movies in that sense since Casino Royale back in November. I am looking forward to the grind house flick!

So far, reviews on Grindhouse aren't good... I dunno though, it seems like it could be pretty good.

I can see where some people might not like it, but I enjoyed it. Your are right about the depth though. It needed a little more substence in the script department. As far as acting, shot selection, special effects, and the way the story carried, I felt they did a supurb job. I hope that this movie sparks other movie makers to think outside the box. The only other thing I was mildly disappointed in was that if you have researched this particular story you could easily see how the writers made it different. I feel if they would have left kept the story more like the originals than it would have made for a more gripping plot. Oh yeah, and it was a little too short for me. All in all I enjoyed the film despite some flaws. I went in hoping for a unique movie going experience and I got one. That is what the movies are all about for me.

I share your disappointment. The lack of historical accuracy made the movie less enjoyable for me. I also think the actual event the way it was really played out is a great inspirational story without all the embellishments, which is why the story has been told for thousands of years now. I enjoyed the film overall, but would have been a lot happier if it was marketed as mostly fiction.

To each his own I guess. I for one loved the movie. It belongs to the noir genre, and it's not your typical Hollywood movie. I love that it was based on real historical events and real historical figures. The point I think is to showcase courage and bravery in the face of insurmountable odds. The effects is part of the point of themovie, after all, it is based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller. It had to be made that way in order to be faithful to the graphic novel it was based on.

It's more fantasy than film noir. Frank Miller's Batman graphic was translated into Tim Burton's BAMTMAN. Even that had some great depth and detail to it. I am just mad that directors and film-makers these days depend on CGI and think it would make for a good script. I find this insulting.

i think you're a good critic when it comes to movies, though our view for 300 is pretty much contrary :)
but i noticed 1 thing during some of the scenes (i'm quite an observer sometimes) some clouds were "still" didn't move a bit even on windy setups.
i liked the movie,it moved me just hoe Troy and the Odyssey did (i love mythological/historical films)

Maybe it is RUBBISH to you because you seem to think that what is real is what you should see on films/movies. In every movie, there is always a lesson to learn while the rest of it are just merely to entertain us. The story only depicts that a few can withstand against all odds even how hopeless it could be. And yes, the lesson you've learned from the scenes can be applied in real life. For example; Leonidas kingship and its freedom was challenged by politicians and invaders, Religion influences the State responsibilities, and etc. You see my friend, don't judge a book by its cover... just read the whole content and be glad that you learn something from it.

I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was very well done. The cast and acting was wonderful. I loved the fight scenes and the blood shed. I loved the graphics. I also think that in this day and age most of the graphics we are going to see in movies will be computer generated. There are more possibilities with using a computer and of course I'm sure it's a lot easier. And well easy gets the job done faster which means the film companies make their money faster.
And even though I thought this was an amazing movie, I fully respect your opinion on it. There are plenty of movies like Sin City and Zoolander that I do not like and others adore them. I actually disliked Zoolander so much and was so bored with it, that I stopped watching it and return it to the video store. But I have friends that swear that is the funniest movie ever. We all have a difference of opinions and there's nothing wrong with that! =)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I respect what you've said about the movie. With that aside, 300 ROCKS! What you call computer generated rubbish is the wave of the future so tough luck for those who don't like it because years from now, or sooner, this will be how people will be doing movies. 300 kicked a$$ because of the good actors, great story and awesome effects. What you call eye candy, I call art.

This is why george lucas was criticised so badly about the latest starwars trilogy. That's what I mean, friend...no story, no real plot, just CGI...if i wanted that I would go watch monster house or finding nemo!

Great to you maybe, But not "so" great to me. I did acknowledge some of the good sides of it in my initial post. What makes a movie worse to me is what makes a movie great in your eyes.
Good day to you, sir. :-)

I like the movie and I think the effects were great and the fight scenes were awesome. But yes, I get your point. I myself don't understand the hype and the talk about this movie. Sometimes people tend to exaggerate on some stuffs, maybe because we all have our own opinions. :) But don't get me wrong, 300 is one of my favorite movies for this year, but like you I don't understand what the hype is all about.

no way!!!!!!!!300 is an absolutely terrific movie. the attitude, the valour the spartans display send a chill down my spine. so much to keep their honour. they challenged and even demured a person who projected himself as god. i think they were bogged down by the wrong priests who just had no respect for these warriors. my personal favorite line in the movie when the king says : SPARTANS NEVER RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!. the greatest sequence when the king as a young lad fights the beast and also , when he kicks the intruder into the well..
