I think many of the internet chatrooms have been abused for internet dating,or even worse, some guys just want to hook up with some ladies, most of the time, even you go to some 'teenage' chatrooms, what you end up with is someone want to start up an adult talk with you, and they do not even care how you think at the beginning, they do not even ask you what kind of conversations do you want to have, they just start to talk some nasty things.
I do not always vitit those chatrooms, but I believe that it is the same in most of the forums, I think it should be monitored, at least some of the abusive words should not be used, but it may be hard to control the content of conversations.

I do not have much knowledge on internet chatrooms, I was put off some time ago when I was using a site which you play games on and I was insulted in the room I was playing the game in, there was supposed to be a moderator but they didn't get involved. I don't personally like chatrooms to be honest and I guess the one bad experience put me off. I think chatrooms should be monitored, just for the sole reason of children being able to talk to people who pretend to be children which is extremely worrying indeed! Parents should take a hand in monitoring chatrooms.

sorry to hear this wolfie, i bet they wouldnt insult you if you were face by face with them? on the chatrooms i visited in the past i have known people who wanna argue to be all mouth but when you tell them come down here and say it they wont as they are all mouth and no action. this is the annoying thing about the chatrooms too. also yes they should be monitored for kids safety as they are so vunerable at times. thanks for your response wolfie. rated +

yes i think chatrooms should be monitored because of people saying different ages. it works both ways a young person could say there alot older what they are or a older person could they are alot younger then what they are and people have known to have been killed or kidnapped, some people are very innocent on them and just go there to chat but you never know who is at the other side of the computer (unless they go on webcam lol)

I think there should be monitored. I have tried once to enter a chatroom to make friends but some look at you as a fresh piece of meat, and it is very outrageous. The old fun of chatting to make friends is almost gone. So some monitoring would be appreciated. (^^,)

I often go to the chatrooms of all kinds.People may got to become a member of chatroom and get admitted into them ,that is a very necessary i suppose.Since we are a chatter, the chatroom just need to make sure every one dont speak bad language and keep the ball rolling all the time.

In all honesty I feel that the kids chat rooms really should be moderated, if nothing else to attempt to keep the kids safe. I no longer bother with chat rooms myself, I got fed up with being a target for nutters and pervs.

I don't really like chatrooms anymore. We can adjust the settings so that we can ignore some chatters or ignore spammers and dirty words plus usually there is already a moderator or admin who banned chatters that break the rules - but I still don't like it.
What about those wolves disguised as sheep? They act polite and don't break the rules, then we tend to like them and give them our contact info. It's just frightening, I don't want to go there again.

We don't need to monitored everyone on the chatrooms because if we monitored they can't be loose of freedom in order to express something

well maybe if people want to express something then maybe they can have a private chat with the user they are speaking to? i think chatrooms should be monitored for peoples safety especially kids as to be safe around the sickos who visit the chatrooms. thanks for responding
