I usually discuss consequences with my 3 year old son and i ask him to pick the fair punishment of what he did like NO TV or NO TOYS. Letting them decide on such things will develop their decision making later in life. Do you agree?

what i do is just punish them. I will never hit my kids NEVVER. but if it severe enough i will ground them for a month and not give in to them. I know they are kids but you have to teach them.

agree. Never hit your kids. Punishment in some degreee is acceptable but always discuss consequences with your kids if they have don something wrong.

i don't allow my 5-yr old son to decide on which punishment he gets for every misdeed because it sort of diverts his attention to choosing the easier or less hurtful punishment for him instead of focusing on the main issue, which is he did something wrong and he shud be punished. also, i give him only one kind of punishment everytime, the one that he hates most, which is being grounded. this makes him think twice before doing something wrong, coz he already knows what awaits him if he did.

I would ask them to stand in a corner facing the wall for 5 minutes to rflect the wrongs that they have done. After that, I would sit down with them and asked them why I have asked them to do it. I would normally give them a hug and remind them not to repeat the same mistake again.
