My girlfriend is bipolar and we have almost no quality of relationship, but we have a 1 year old son who, along with his sister is the focal point of my life. I know that eventually the situation will come to a head and the relationship will end, but for now, little dude is pretty much oblivious to our animosity. Why do you stay in a bad relationship?

my b/f deals with my bipolarness because he loves me through my highs and lows. I love that he's there to support me no matter what I am like. He tries to help me heal and become whole once more.

Don't get me wrong.... I have stood by her and i DO love her. It's just the fact that she knows what she needs to do to have a full life, but she doesn't listen to her doctors, doesn't take her meds, and doesn't go to her group meetings. I can deal with the "flipout/depresseion, flipout/depression" cycles, but it's very confusing for the kids and I guess I feel if she really cared she would stick to a treatment plan.

have you tried asking her why she seem to not care? have you sat down and talked things out seriously? you need to confront the issue, don't be afraid to tell her how you feel (but of course, start it with "i love you"). if both of you would like your relationship to last, you both should be willing to work on it.

I agree try talking to her. You know let her know it's affecting the kids, you and the relationship.
