I know he/she is doing his/her job, but I tend to thank the bus driver when I'm leaving the bus. Or sometimes just wish a good day.
I always receive a nice comment or smile back and I go out feeling great.
How about you. Do you feel there's not need to thank them because it's their job to transport us from onne place to the other, or do you like to leave with a smile?

I always say thank you to the bus driver when I get off. I always say good morning or afternoon to them when I get on the bus too. It's a job I would hate to do myself and a bit of common courtesy and good manners costs nothing.
Driving in the traffic all day, I'm surprised they don't get road rage and I appreciate getting to my destination safely and in one piece.

I haven't been on a bus in a wile but I'd always great upon entering, thing is a lot of the time they'd look at me funny as if I shouldn't be saying hello, seriously some of them would make these weird expressions that made you feel like you were doing something wrong, others would ignore me. There were a few that would actually smile.... I don't know why some of them were so "unhappy" I was trying to be friendly after all.

If it is a waitress, I would say thanks. Sales staff... likewise. But a bus driver? No. It just feels strange since he is not providing me any "personal service". :P

I will say thank you to the bus driver when i get off from the bus everytime, and most of the time, they will return me with a smile or say you are welcomed. Because I always catch the bus, I will always see some familar face everyday, some drivers even recognize me.
Although it is their jobs to take you from one place to another, you can still smile to them, their jobs may be very boring as they keep driving at the same route everyday, so why not give them a smile to appreciate their jobs?
