well, last time i've heard an interview about 'dress for sucess'.yes, clothes make the man,i think that means first impression is important, especially when you are applying for a job,if you looked mess up,nobody wants to offer you a job at the first place. and i also think that inner quality is the same important,or maybe more.as we get along with that person,we know him more, and then we will not judge him by clothes,we will judge him by minds,i think that is the transition.but in most occasion,we met people just once, and we will never met them again,in that case, your dress is important, people cant know you well at first sight,so clothes can help you.

I will agree with you in a sense, unless it is someone like an ascetic who has left the world in a spiritual sense so is not inclined to material things. I love to make my Hubby look smart for work Once we are both self employed I will be dressing him in Chinese Traditional dress as it really makes him handsome. Even now, whenever we go out, he may wear western trousers but he has to wear a Chinese jacket. I love old fashioned clothes and when I can I will get us both to wear Han Fu when we go out as I love it. We don't all have to dress in the same way to look smart lol. I love traditional dress from different countries, it really makes people look smart when it is well worn, don't you agree?

It is 100 % true that clothes make a man... Supose one is going for an interwview , how would it look if he goes in his halfpant , It would be a total mess. So wearing appropriate clothes in approprite time is of atmost important. To cite another example , What would you think of a man wearing a neat coat and a tie but swimming in the pool. You will think he is a mad , on't you ? This clearly shows the importance of clothes not only clothes but appropriate clothes in appropraite time and appropriate places Apart from clothes , manners also makes a man. A clothed man in the absence of manners is an ANIMAL Dressed.

Yes, what a man wear says a lot about who he is, if he wears things that do not fit or that have holes in them he is saying that he could care less what he looks like and why should you, but a man that is dressed nice or has put some effort into it wants to be recognized as someone who is well dressed.

Hi. baolihua. Welcome to myLot! Well I make the 11th person to respond to your discussion. No, the clothes don't make the man. It is what is inside a man's heart and mind that makes him a man. Many men will wear nice clothing, but they don't act like a man at all. So, a man's clothing is just his outer wear, not his inner wear. The inner wear is what counts the most.

Clothes worn with modesty and attitude and make the man: I believe a man dressed more modestly but clean smelling clean attract more than a clothing company that ... smells like unwashed! people may consider bad hide under the firm. But the man seen by fake clothes, and quality, I mean, it's one that lasts, even if they make way more difficult (I mean human quality).

That expression has been around a lot and it is true in the business world. If a person wants to be respected they have to go to work dressed suitable to their work environment.
