In Dying: Who goes first?

Was watching the first episode of Six feet Under when this crossed my mind. For couples, husbands and wives, what do you think? Who do you prefer should go first?
I often think i should first rather than my husband because i dont want to feel the pain of losing someone i love. Im escaping of course by going first. Its my greatest fear. Its also selfish but as of now, i feel maybe i should die first.

I am selfish too! I really think I wanted to die first if ever rather than seeing my husband die first, I really can't live without him.
But my perfect idea is like the ending of the movie the notebook wherein the old couple die together in thier bed holding hands.

I am fortunate because I am single and always will be so I will never have the problem of who goes first. I think my greatest upset would be the loss of my mother, I know it doesn't work that way but sometimes I wonder if it would be easier for me to go first before my mum, but that sounds selfish because it would devastate my mum if she lost her only son.

I'd rather go first for the same reason as you. I'd rather not have to deal with that loss of my soulmate. I'm actually 11 years older than my wife, so chances are that will happen. If life was perfect, we would both go together,peacefully in each others arms!

It doesn't really matter. Whether you die first before your husband, the pain would still be there.
