Who said we have to slave our lives away?

To chase our parents ideals will only get us what they had. Old school thinking gets old school results. The finance industry has caught wind of a shift of awareness and started doing things differently, 100% loans, senior equity loans etc. Do we slave and save for a deposit, get a loan, work for the rest of our lives whilst day care centres raise our children? Has anyone got the magic answer? or something close?

While there is really no magic answer, the best way to get ahead is to set clear, reasonable goals (not just with money but with every aspect of your life). Setting and completing goals will give you an incredible sense of accomplishment and will boost your self-esteem and confidence. Living below your means is also very important. Don't fall prey to the "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality - you'll find that you're the only one in the race. Pay down and stay away from consumer debt. The financial business is just that - a business - and you are their customer; they want to keep you. So they will keep on giving you incentives to borrow. They are traps. They are not designed to let you get ahead. I hope that helps!
