Why do you think people use fake photos here

I understand the need to be 'anonymous' while having a presence. That's why people puts on a different mask called avatar online. I am in the midst of trying to make a good 'anonymous' avatar but it won't be that of famous celebrities, i might get sued you know, illegal use of images and all that.

I resent the fact that one poster said it was because the person was embarrassed of their own face. I think it's a little shallow. I agree that sometimes, it's best to be anonymous on the internet specially one that has a worldwide reach like mylot. There are sick persons who would copy your picture and then pass it off as them. I even saw a post by another mylotter who said someone copied their picture and used it as their own avatar and when she asked about it, that person said it was to attract more persons to respond to his discussions. It's better to be careful than be sorry.

I don't know really I think that's a really good point. Draw attention to themselves, get people to think they're someone they're not, if you think you're not pretty and have a picture of a friend who'd everyone think she'd be pretty, she'd post it.

It could be that they don't have any photographs in their computer and maybe don't know how to do this and upload them. However you can easily get photos off the Internet and use them so I would think this is more likely reason.

Because they don't like themselves enough or because they want to atract people. I think that it's much more better when you put your real photo and don't feel ashamed of what you are. I don't use fake photos - this is really me.

Sometimes it is better to stay anonymous on the internet, it is a small world and it is not always the best thing to let people know who you are ...

Maybe they don't like the looks of themselves and are embarrassed so they don't want to post pictures of themselves so they post actress' and actor's photos so their page won't look bare!
