Well my friend thats the difference between a fanatic and a wise man! the fanatic blindly puts his faith in his beliefs and wont question them and if anyone tries to persuade him to think rationally, the fanatic becomes aggressive! i dont think the word certain applies to this!
On the other hand the wise man always first tests out his beliefs, conducts proper research and than acknowledges them! he is always open to questioning and dialog. Again i think the terms full of doubts is not appropriate here!
I hope i have made things clear!

That is the reason they are fools and fanatics. They are so convinced that they are right, and are narrow minded.

Because a wise person believes that he could be wrong or that someone could be more wiser than him, that's what makes him wise.
Whereas, a fool has a very narrow vision and he thinks he knows it all and that there's no room for error, that's what makes him a fool, because he's not willing to listen and consider the opinions of others and hence is trapped in his own state of mind.
A wise person converses, ponders and questions himself so that he can get the best out of himself, and a fool would rather be happy in his ignorance.
A smart person is one who knows that there are others smarter than him, just like an honest person knows that he hasn't been honest all the time.
