Since the first season, Idol's judge Paula Abdul had been known for being nice to the contestants - almost nobody found her seriously offensive when she comments. Many people like Paula for having this trait, however, there too are many individuals who seem to dislike such a character of hers..
How about you?? Do you think Paula is being TOO NICE to the idol contestants???

Each judge was hired for their own unique style of judging. Randy for his honest, but down-to-earth style, Simon for his brutality and Paula for her sweetness and nurturing style with each contestant. I think they have learned to compliment each other and the audience has come to expect this from each of them. Anything else wouldn't be acceptable. Frankly, I like Paula and I think she gets more than her share of negative comments from people.

I like how you comment each style of our dear judges here. And i agree with you. Simon with his brutal words (sorry..), Randy with his honesty and Paula with his nice words.

I agree that paula is being too nice with the contestants.. Uhmm.. even though a particular contestant doesn' really sound good, vocally, she often say good things about them. but simon is different, even though a lot of people get mad at him. at least he speaks what's on his mind, he just tells the truth about the contestants performance.
But, I like paula when she, sometimes, give a bad comment on the performance of the contestants..

She is way too-nice. But I guess it evens out the balance with Simon and his comments. Randy can go both ways he's easy-going and tough when need be. So Paula brings the level of Simon's comments to an average standard for the whole judging committee.

ya i think she's being too nice.maybe she do not want a judge that everyone hates.there are quite a lot of numbers that hate simon and randy.so maybe paula afraid of that.so she's just wanna be nice with everyone.but i think simon are correct when saying the comments on the contestants.but the truth is hard to be accept and it hurts.so all of people think simon is very rude.but i think simon is great because he's not afraid to voice out his point of view.he's not bothered what people think about him

I think she is too nice. Sometimes when she doesnt have anything good to say about the singing she doesnt talk about the singing she'll just say wow you look beautiful or somethnig, and really it's a singing competition! People need to be told if they didn't do any good, by all 3 judges in my opinion. I think sometimes she compliments the ones that didn't do good at all. And thats what irritates me. I prefer simon and randy's comments to paula's anyday!

Well, yeah I noticed those comments of her too - those 'you look so gorgeous' and 'your dress tonight's beautiful' lines that, I must say, really agitates me a lot too. We all know that inside of her mind she might have disliked a performance but when it's her turn to comment, she's not being very honest...
Maybe she's trying to balance things out but for me, that need not be done... A bad performance is a bad performance... It should be judged as it is...

Yeah she is too nice, but someone has to compensate for Simon being such a jerk. I think that she is one of those rare people who actually sees the best in everyone and has too good of a heart to hurt anyone. I like that in her character. We have Simon to be brutially honest. Let a little sunshine in. I love Paula. She's got a heart of gold.

I don't mind her for being nice I think she balance the personality of them all. But I think of her being so nice doesn't help contestants to become more good in what they do, they don't feel any challege or may I say how simon say it " her advices is forgetable" easy to forget and don't really give an impact.

I think she is the worst of the three. She usually just agrees with Randy or just gives such a general statement that it really doesn't help the contestants.

I don't think so. Paula is fine with me. She knows how to critize people in proper manner. It's not that i'm saying that Simon not critize people in proper manner, but he way too cruel. Paula critize the contestant, by saying good words first, and then the lack of them. And she never used any cruel words. It's fine with me.

i think she is asked to be like that + she is already like that, in the idol, the judges is perfect, one is full of critics ,1 is neutral and the other is nice too contestant, :D, but for me sometimes Paula is overacting to praise the contestant, do u agree?

I don't think its a problem as long as there are judges who are honest, and I think Simon is the best at being honest. I tend to always agree with whatever he says, and I think he's only ever too harsh in the first rounds of the competition. I had a singing teacher just like him at school and I think harsh is what you need if you want to get anywhere. However as there are 3 judges, I think its great to have Paula as the sweet one.

I think that is her job. She's the nice judge. It is true that she always try to make good comments...but I also saw her made some bad comments though she said them in a nice way. Not like the way Simon does...he is so mean.

If being too nice means being not honest with the contestant then I think it is not good. I have seen her and I think she is just trying to soften the blow and keep the contestant motivated. I don't think she is falsely being nice.

I think she is always too nice. Sometimes shes strange and says some really weird stuff. She needs to more honest and just tell it as it is like Simon does (hes very blunt but at least he tells you straight up!). I do like Paula but sometimes it would be nice if they changed the judges once in a while :)

I wonder if she just likes to give balance between the two men, she does say nice comments to the contestants, but also she will say if she thinks they didn't perform to good. I would wonder however if she left who would they replace her with.
