Are you going to vaccine your baby with the rotovirus shot?

It's new, and unfortunatly, the place where my son get's shots, said they weren't offering it, they didn't have enough in the budget to buy the shot, even though its only about $60 a shot, and I would have paid for it. What is your opinion on the shot? It's new, so would you get it? Since I have school aged kids that bring home everything, I thought it would be good for my son to have it, but now he missed the age cut off. Are you going to get this shot for your child? why or why not?

If it's required I'll have both my daughters done. Rather be safe than sorry.

I think it's optional right now, you can decline it, or choose to get it.

It is not required but is strongly recommended. If I had enough money I would have had my daughter vaccinated with it. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough resources so there, my baby is past the age limit.

I have had each of my children vaccinated for the rotavirus. My daughters doctor recommended for her because she was premature with a heart defect. I have always had my children vaccinated for just about everything the doctor recommends because she wouldn't recommend it if she didn't feel it was neccasry. And yes I know you can't always believe what a doctor tells you but this is one doctor that I can trust.

hello my name is sarah flake and yes i'am related to all of the Flake's. Anywho i had an experience whith the roto virus. i was taking my son cullun he is 5 months old ...into the emergency room cuz i thought he had pnimonia and i was sitting next to a lady in the waiting room and asked her why her baby was hear cuz he was two months old and she said that he had had a reaction to the rotovirus vacine she told me that the doctor told her never to give her child that vacine again ( her baby had dioreia so much in one day that the baby had to be put on an I.V and held over night). Also my sister in-law's ped. told her not to give her child that vacine because they are not sure what the sidafects of the vacine can do to your baby, and that the shot was made for babies in 3rd world countries cuz in those countries there water is not clean and it can give babies the viruse . i would invise you to never give your child this vacine it can harm your baby love sarah

We didn't get him vaccinated for rotovirus, we are religiously opposed to vaccinations because of human diploid cells. We get exemptions listed here by state at www.vaccinetruth.com This one I wouldn't do, here's a link why http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/13/ap/health/mainD8N932LO0.shtml, pretty scary. You also need to look at other side affects, this is included with the package but you can find it on the net http://www.fda.gov/cber/products/rotamer020306qa.htm Are there are any possible side effects associated with the use of RotaTeq™? During the studies, rates of serious adverse events were similar in infants receiving RotaTeq™ compared to those infants who did not receive the vaccine. The following were reported more often in infants who received RotaTeq™, when compared to those who received placebo; diarrhea (24.1% in vaccine recipients vs 21.3% in those receiving placebo), vomiting (15.2% in vaccine recipients vs 13.6% in those receiving placebo), ear infection (14.5% in vaccine recipients vs 13.0% in those receiving placebo), runny nose and sore throat (6.9% in vaccine recipients vs 5.8% in those receiving placebo), wheezing and coughing (1.1% in vaccine recipients vs 0.7% in those receiving placebo). So 24% of the vaccinated children got diarrhea, which it's meant to protect against. You also need to know that if your child gets vaccinated from this, the virus sheds in your childs stools. This is why kids get sick from rotovirus in daycare, the workers don't wash their hands good enough when changing diapers. If your child gets diarrhea severely, take them to the hospital for hydration. That's when children get really ill from rotovirus, it happens fast, it's scary but I see the side effects from the news link as something scarier.
