The television is considered as one of the best mediums of information in our era and many people benefit from using it - news, weather updates and of course quality entertainment.. TV dramas, reality shows and more other shows are receiving so much popularity today and in truth a lot of people are so affected by these sorts of programs... Some people become angry at characters, they cry when the lead actor is hurt, they become happy when somebody wins in a contest and all that.... Why do you think is this happening??? Why do people get so affected by TV shows though we all know that most of the programs on TV does not directly concern us all??? Please share your comments...

I think because TV shows mirrors our deepest longings, dreams, hope and real life drama. It also let us believe in love and romance. It is has also become a tool or a coping mechanism for many people. Deep inside of us is just a person wanting to be loved and is sentimantal at heart no matter what we say, so that is why TV shows are very popular.

I agree with your insight. TV shows are good reflections of our daily beings and indeed, it's not very hard for us to relate immediately to what's being displayed on the boob tube.. Maybe a lot of people out there lay their feelings down on TV because some emotions cant be displayed public reality...

I agree with cdparazo. These tv shows affects us in many ways. Having a varied feelings over this stuff is just normal for us human beings. It is in our nature to react to something that triggers our emotion. And basically, there are roles in the tv series that we would like to think that we portray in our lives.

It's all part of being human and having emotions. If you are in a room and everyone around you is happy and cheering, that mood will sometimes rub off on you as well. When people watch shows and become drawn into the characters lives, etc they feel as if they are connected to that charater. Now of course they know it is television, but it is like a get away, an escape if you will. A lot of people do it with a good book as well.

I think that television can affect us in many ways. I think that we cry for when there are sad shows on...I think that we wish we were these people in some of the reality shows. I think we get drawn in because these peoples lives are so much more exciting then ours may be. We are all emotional beings and I think television just brings out those emotions.

I think you're right.. The TV brings out much of our emotions as human beings and I think that's healthy... At least we 'exercise' our emotion - those that we are not able to practice in the real world...

If a storyline is sad than it will affect a lot of people. It may be acting but they are acting out characters being affected by different situations. A lot of people come to care about the characters they see on tv and will be rooting for them all the way. I've cried during films etc, I know it's not real but I just can't help it!

I think a lot of people transfer their own hopes and dreams onto the characters in TV shows-- and it's especially true with so-called "reality TV." In a sense, I see it as little more than a variation of rooting for a sports team; somehow we feel like we are "represented" by those we see on TV, so we become very attached to what they do. Alas, I can't offer much more than that, as I don't really get absorbed by what's going on on TV.

I think you're right... Most people find themselves represented by the characters seen on TV that's why they're very attached to the boob tube.. Thanks for the reply.. Happy posting!!!

Television can bring us so many information, including news, weather report and so on.And i don't like to see TV play. When i see,i just look it as an entertainment. At that time, maybe i cry or feel happy, but i never make it affect my normal life.In my real life,i will forget it.

Well I guess YOU ALREADY ARE AFFECTED.. Why?? You said that you cry or feel happy with what you see on TV, so in one way or another, it affected you as a being.. It may not directly put a mark on your normal life but your emotions have been touched by what you see on TV... And I guess that's nice... At least your emotional brain sectors are functional... LOL Happy posting!!!

For me, because humans are born being compassionate and that is one of our advantges from animls. We get to feel what others feel and we want to share whatever it is just to show our compassion. But what I really hate with the tv programs is that they become this new religion that some people are controlled by this like in what time it wil be shown some might adjust there important task just to see it but I don't blame the media.

As you have said, TV is the best or most popular medium of relaxation not only information. People are carried away with what they are viewing in the TV, whether its a contest or tv shows (look at young children and how they are influenced by the violence they are seeing in cartoon shows). I think we are attached to the shows we are watching in terms of physical and emotional connection. We agree with every scene we like and react to those we don't like to see or happen.

Ok, I would like to speak for myself for I know I am one of those that is affected by what I see on TV,whether it's a drama series or a news. If I see bad news I got mad like seeing those politicians trying to get some votes and trying so hard to act in Tv as if they were God sent angels.I htink it's a human reaction, we feel and therefore we react. Sameway with the dramas, I am somewhat affected by the story and by some characters because I feel for them (sometimes I forget that these drama series are only fictions)hehe! It's because we have feelings and that we feel for them so we get carried away.

Hey I really don't know about these TV shows even a bit coz I'm not the kind of guy who likes to sit and watch the boring TV shows all day long so as to disturb my mind... Instead I enjoy my time along with my frineds.. where there is a plentiful chance to encourage yourself with the new things you haven' started or get some new info about the new happenings........

I'm one of these people. I'll cry. I'll get mad. I'll laugh, when watching something on TV. In real life, if someone hurts one of my friends or family - I'm mad. If someone close to me cries, I do too. If someone is happy, I can't help laughing with them. See where I'm going here?

mostly we forget the characters after the show if something relates to our lives at the time, or if its done well, then often we remember it well mostly the shows don't have any serious lasting effects

Television is a way for me to veg out for a time. I like shows and get involved with the caracters to the extent of what is happening at the time. I do not let it carry over in my real life. Now with the new I tend to get more emotional. I cry, I yell and I cheer. I also feel discust at times. The news is real life per someone's view. To much violance on TV the say desentizatises our children and they committ more violance. Do I believe this? To a extent I do, but my children know that TV was just pretend and you do no act that way in real life.

I think people get affected from TV shows because they are relatable to real life experiences. People get "attached" to the characters of the show, and feel what they feel. I guess TV shows can make you emotional, and that attracts viewers.

even though it don't really concern us all, people are more aware of the present situation of our world. whenever there is a calamity, the television (news) is the mediator and then we symphatize. in the dramas, people are very touched by the protagonist's sufferings and somewhat feels that they hacve the same story and that shee needs to idolize and copy all the things the artist do. media is a figure copied by people. for example, paris hilton. she is so rich. almost everybody loves her. she is hot, pretty, like a barbie. she is also tangled with some controversies and yet, people still look up to her. people imitate her style, her looks, her walk and all that is about her. i think it is a natural thing about people to just be affected in every situation being brought by the television.

I think that people get affected by tv shows because they are overdramatic and take everything too seriously. No one likes to joke anymore, and now take everything seriously. They think that everything on TV is ment to be offensive even when it's not.

Because people see the characters in themselves. Characters are sterotyped so that they can portray a wide range of people that all of us come across in every day lives, therefore we relate to their situations and we understand how they feel when things happen to them.

I think people are affected just because... I think if people would take that time to do more than just become there own t,v and live like the characters than there can be change.
