Definitely a pool because it is much safer, you don't know what is in the sea, pollution and also I worry about the tides and depending on what country I am in what animals are in the sea. lakes can be dangerous too because you can't be certain what depth they are.

I have some good memories of swimming in the Atlantic as well as the Pacific - I have enjoyed very much the lakes that had roped off areas for swimming too. But, I think now I would much prefer swimming in a private pool - for the sake of modesty as well as safety and convenience.

I just wish I wasn't afraid of the water. I don't even go near it if I can help it.

Those are some of the happiest memories I have of time spent with my parents and siblings. The lake is 1/4 mile wide and 1/2 mile long and has two private islands on it. It's so gorgeous in the fall - the colored leaves reflecting on the water makes the lake look like a mirror. I loved the sound of the loons calling out to one another early in the mornings.

I truly love your sense of humor, and I can relate to having lifeboats there.

Pool only, I'm not a strong enough swimmer for the ocean and lakes give me the creeps because I can't see anything under the water.

I can't swim either and I stick to a pool now. I've almost drowned in the ocean 3 times...that's enough of that.

Never been to Salt Lake City, but my sister who lives in Kansas City has been there on business for her company. I think I'd have to pass on trying the lake there...LOL.

I prefer to swim in a pool. Although I love the beach, I do not go swimming in the ocean. That all stopped when I saw Jaws. LOL! I swear, that movie put me completely off swimming in the ocean.

And it's not just sharks now...it's also stingrays and barracuda out there to get you. Thanks for your response.

My husband doesn't understand my fear, but at least he doesn't force me to go into the water.

I love all 3 but I prefer to swim in a pool. Preferably an inground pool, oh how I wish I had one too :) The reason I like the pool the best is because I am not the greatest swimmer in the world and really deep waters scare me and make me nervous. I had a near drowning experience when I was a teenager and it has scarred me for life. Also in lakes and the ocean, you have fish and snakes, etc. that you share the water with.

Nearly drowning 3 times has also scarred me, so I know what you mean.

I think I haven't swam in a lake yet. Isn't it nice to have swam there? Hmmm... I dunno but I don't think so. Neither in an ocean too. It's a vast type of water so I think I won't dare swimming there, unless if it's only a sea where I know it's kinda safer than the ocean. I know how to swim but I won't dare swim in an ocean. In the pool? Yes, a lot of times regardless how deep is the size of the pool. It doesn't matter. Swimming pools are the most safe swimming waters that one can swim. :)

I don't mind lakes but i always wonder if there's something in the water that i cant see, i'm scared of sharks (i'm in Aus) so the ocean i'm not keen on so i guess my preference would be the pool. Although, after a while the chlorine gets to me, maybe a salt pool would be best!!!

It would have to be a pool. I can not stand the thought of swimming in places where fish and other things poop. That is just gross. At least if someone does it in the pool the chlorine makes it cleaner.

I learned to swim when I was about 6, but I've almost drowned 3 times in my life...so now I just stay out of the water. Thanks for your response.
