I prefer to eat the ripe ones, so sweet and juicy and tasty. Not really into pickled mangoes which some of my friends like to eat. I have tried green mango shake in Boracay and it was delicious, different taste from the ripe ones. Which do you prefer??

Hi Sutan, I tried to eat a green mango about 16 years ago, and I thought if this is mango's what is every one raving about, It reminded me of when I was a small child and said a bad word and my mother washed my mouth out with soap. I started working with some Filipinos, who quickly became my friends and they offered me a piece of Mango, No thanks and explained about the sour taste, They had a great laugh and said try a ripe mango. I was a bit leery but I was sure they wouldn't steer me wrong and I had a ripe mango. There is no other fruit in the world that I would pay $1.65. But if it was lovely ripe mango oh yes I would. As well they treated me to many Filipino foods and customs, I was invited to all their party's. and community events. Oh yes they were also always trying to get me to marry some nice Filipino gentleman. but I just wasn't interested in getting married, so they gave up. Leaving them was my one big regret in moving away from Yellowknife.

Oh Robin your story made me smile. So you are already acquainted with Filipino foods and customs. Typical Filipino trait to hook a friend to get married to a Filipino also.(c") Hmmm, mangoes are abundant here in our country so that's why we love it so much.

Funny story Robin! I was introduced to ripe Mangos at a young age. I have always loved the taste. The only drawback is how messy they can be to eat. I was always a little repulsed watching people eat them. I'm not a snob by any means but I try (unsuccessfuly at times) to eat them in the least messy manner possible.

I prefer the ripe one. As a matter of fact, I always make sure to have those sweet mangoes nicely stacked in my fridge. I will use it to make mango cake and mango shake. I rarely eat green mango. But I wouldn't mind the green mango shake. Yeah, Boracay's shake is heavenly.

Ohh totally heavenly... was trying to make their shake. But something is missing that I could'nt get the taste right. Everytime I tried to experiment I end up eating the mango. Ha,ha that's how crazy I get over this delicious yellow thingy.

I love the ripe mangos. I have tried several varieties and enjoyed all of them. However, the green ones cause me to have an asthma attack so I stay away from them now.

I prefer the ripe mangoes too. Especially when they are in season and from Zambales. I think the mangoes are sweeter there. But they say there are other varieties of mangoes that are more tasty. By the way, wanted to thank you again for the hearts. They are beautiful. I love it really! And thank you for adding me as a friend! Have a great day!(^^,)

I prefer ripe. Did you know there are many varieties of mango? I have only tried non ripe by accident. I don't know why anyone would enjoy the taste of that. Ripe mango shakes are awesome!!! I have always wanted to try mango chutney but have not come across any so far.

The legendary Trojan Horse - And the downfall of Troy
Yes I've read there are many varieties. Mango is used as blood builders. People who suffer from muscle cramps, stress, and heart problems can benefit from the high potassium and magnesium content that also helps those with acidosis.

I prefer ripe and sweet mangoes. Mango is one of the favourite fruit of mine. I also like mango pulp very much. I always have mangoes in my fridge in summer. Green mangoes taste good when you make pickles from it. I love mango pickle.

That's a very difficult choice because I love them both. I love ripe mangoes because they're sweet and juicy. I love green mangoes because they're sour-bitter and crunchy. Yummmm... makes my mouth water. hehehe

Yosh!1 I love mangoes! Actually, I like the ripe ones better. I'd prefer the green ones if they're not too sour.. Have you eaten indian mangoes too? They're delicious! Ahihi... Yeah, green mango shake tastes different from the ripe one. My mom actually says it's more delicious. Haha.. When I eat green mangoes or indian mangoes, I usually dip it in bagoong, or soy sauce... I like mango shakes and put ripe mangoes as toppings on an ice cream or grahams cake my mom used to make...^_^

Ripe mangoes yummy yummy. I prefer them cause - The fruit flesh of a ripe mango contains about 15% sugar, up to 1% protein, and significant amounts of vitamins A, B and C. The taste of the fruit is very sweet, with some cultivars having a slight acidic tang; it tastes roughly like a cross between a peach and a pineapple.
