Hi easymoney.
Based on what we believe in and our religious practices, we don't celebrate what most people consider 'normal' holidays. We stopped celebrating them many years ago.
We celebrate Biblical (Old Testament) feast, not known as holidays. We don't do Christmas, New Year's, or none of that.
We used to traditionally enjoy July 4th by going to our local July 4th celebration. It's a fun day at the park for everyone, but the heat and hassle of it, and our age, has made us rethink going for the past several years.
We believe giving and thanks should be a part of everyone's everyday life, not just once or twice a year.
We don't get caugt up in the hype of man made holidays and don't get caught up in the financial aspects of it either.
I think children should be taught the truth about holidays. Biblically and traditionally they should be taught that, "all good gifts come from God" and should be taught what holidays God intended us to celebrate, versus the holidays made for financial gain.
Knowing the origin of these holidays helps a great deal. I would suggest everyone research them, although I know most people will think I'm completely nuts.
