Do you rate others?

Whenever I start a discussion or when I am reading or responding to someone else's, I always take the time to give the discussion and whoever responded a positive rating (unless they leave a super short answer or one that makes no sense) and I hope that others would do the same. What about you? Do you take a few moments to give people a positive rating if you like their discussion or posting? It's one of those things that takes a few extra moments, and you might not want to do, but I think if you start a good discussion or take the time to post a good response than you should get credit for it. Don't you?

I rate the responses in discussions I've started. The way I do it is I give a positive to everyone who gives me a longer, well thought out and on topic response even if I don't agree with their opinion. Responses that are just short or missing details I leave without a rating, that way they are getting neither a positive or a negative. If the response has nothing to do with my discussion or it's obvious the person only read the headline and nothing else, they get a negative no matter how long it is. Yes, one two of my discussions the person gave a several paragraphs long response that was completely off topic, it's rare but it happens. If the response is offensive, abusive, or just complete nonsense (you know, the ones that just type in a bunch of random letters or words) then I report it.
I'm not so good at remembering to rate discussions I respond to though. I get to maybe 1/3 of them, especially if the topic is really important to me.

I do rate all of the discussions I started. I usually will wait a doy or two to rate my best response so everyone has a chance to answer. I also try to rate people in the discussions tat I respond to. I always rate the person who's discussion I am responding to.

I always try to remember to take the time to rate the responses to my discussions. I know I can't respond to all of my response when I get a lot of them but I'll at least try to rate them. I figure it's the least I can do for them taking the time to respond to me. And I think other people should do the same thing. I think it's all about helping each other out on here.

I only rate discussions if it's a positive rating. I give people positive ratings if I think the topic is good and if they took time to explain the question. Now and then I will rate some discussion a negative but it has to be a really dumb question or a user who obviously doesn't care what you have to say or share.
