What would you do?

I just came back from a shopping trip. I didn't get anything for myself, but I had chipped in to pay for a friend's gift. In one of the stores we went to, I gave the cashier $100 to pay for a $31 item. But instead of handing me $69 change, the girl behind the counter gave me $94.
I was a little light-headed after walking around for so long, and was a bit confused. But I was certain enough that I shouldn't be receiving $94. So I went back to the cashier but she was a tad bit slow in doing the calculating. She even insisted it was correct because the cash register says to give me $94 (she keyed in the wrong numbers).
Eventually, another assistant came and although he too was a bit slow, he finally got what I was trying to say. I even went as far as calculating it for them on a calculator. So I left with my correct change amount of $69.
However, after it all sank in, I began thinking of what it would be like if I just left with the money, either on purpose or not. My other friends also said that it would have been a great bargain if we had taken the $94. I don't know.. considering the fact that I am broke, I really have to say that I feel a bit of regret to not have run off with it. It wasn't that much money, but it still is money.. but I tell myself that it is good karma to do what I did. Plus, it IS a gift for a friend.
But I wonder what I would have done if the situation was a bit different... What would YOU do?

I think I would have done the same thing. I wouldn't like to think about the cashier being short on the money she should have in her drawer and have to pay for it herself. I would have felt really bad if I had kept the money =) You did the right thing!!

Heh. I know. It was just this 'what if' feeling I got. I just can't get over the fact that the cashier(s) spent ages to figure out what I meant..
