What to do if you are stuck with a Doctor you don't like?

I just returned from a doctor visit, and I have to say I really dislike my doctor. Professionally he seems to be a decent guy, but there is just something about him that I don't like. Here is my problem, because of our health insurance, I have to go to this doctor. I could go to another doctor, but I would have to drive over 50 miles away (or further since he is a specialist) and I just can't do that. This doctor has done nothing wrong or said anything inappropriate, I just have a feeling about him that makes me uneasy. I only have to go see him once every 3 months, should I just "get over it" and go, or what?

I would say since you have to only go once every three months to make the drive to the other doctor and check him out. How can you keep going to a doctor that you don't feel comfortable with? and that uneasy feeling is usually that "little birdie" that tells us something isn't right here and we need to do something about it. When it comes to you and your health you have to be safe and use the person that you feel comfortable with and know that everything is going to be ok. He holds your life in your hands!

Being a nurse for 20 years I know there are a lot of Dr's I do not like. It could be you just do not like him as a person. I know with insurance we are dictated at to who we see and sometimes we do not have a choice. Good luck. I am assuming you have a chronic illness and you have to see him every three months. My advice to you is never go into the room alone. He probably will never be unapporiate to you but you never know. Another thing he may remind you of someone you dislike and you are not aware of that. I would say go to someone else but being in your same shoes with insurance and transportaion I agree go see him as little as possible, but never be alone.
