I think a better question would be... honestly... has anybody MADE it to 10 before actually exploding? (lol)

It does for me. It keeps me from making "knee-jerk" reactions that usually backfire for me. It also gives me time to cool down, and/or to consider other sides to the situation.

I never count to 10 when I am stressed, the only times that I ever tried it, it really didn't seem to help me out at all. I usually take an ativan when I am stressed.

Well, it depends on the situation that is creating the stress. If it's very mild, sometimes it helps. But usually I just go for a drive on the highway, blast the music, and go as fast as the speed limit or the law will allow.

I never use that technique because when i get to 10 its like the situation is still the same. im better off using those 10 seconds to think about what im going to do next. taking time to breath deeply helps me to relax and thats what i use to deal with stress
