Who all uses some sort of DVR device?

I have been really spoiled by my DVR. It's so great that I can record all of my shows or movies that I want to watch and come back and watch them when I have time. I have mine through my local cable company. Who do you have yours through? Do you think there is anything that could be improved with your service? The only thing I would like to see improved with mine would be some way to record over the commercials. For the time being I have to fast forward through them (which is nice to be able to do by the way). But it would be nice if they could be eliminated all together.

I don't know if I could exist without my DVR anymore! I got into watching Prison Break. The first season I watched on DVD and missed the first part of the second season. Right now I am waiting for that to come out on DVD and I have DVR'd the rest of the season so I can have a Prison Break marathon! Mine is through my cable provider and is definitely worth the money, in my opinion!

I've never watched Prison Break. I keep seeing commercials for it and it looks really good. I guess it's just one of those shows I always forget about lol. My dvr is very much worth my money. It's just $5 extra a month for the convenience.

I absolutely LOVE my DVR service. We've had it for a little over a year through our local cable company. After having it for this long, I don't know how I ever lived without it. I can record the shows that I want to watch and then watch them when I have free time. Right now, it's hard for me to make time to sit and watch a show because I have a one month old, 2 year old, and 4 year old who require my full attention when they are awake. At least this way, I can watch a recorded show after they have gone to bed for the night or when they are napping.

Oh wow! And I thought I was a busy mom LOL. You have 3 very young ones to take care of! I bet your DVR gets some good use.

Yes we have the DVR through our satalite prodiver. It is the best thing ever!!! I use to miss all kinds of shows because it is hard to pay attention to the TV with my kids up and running around. So now I can record everything and watch my shows when the kids are in bed. It is the best!!

I know what you mean about the kids. And there are some shows that I watch that I don't really want my daughter exposed to yet so it's perfect for me to be able to watch those shows either during naptime or after she goes to bed.

We just got one a month ago. I love it, if there's shows that I don't want to watch in front of my son, I can record them and watch them when he's napping, or if my husband is home, they'll play in the living room while I watch them in our bedroom to get a break. I wouldn't change a thing, but I think I'm being spoiled since I haven't had cable in a very long time, I'm used to antennas lol.

I love my dvr also. i would like for it to have a cd area so you could record the movies on the cd too. I hate to delete really good movies. but when we get to a certain number of hours it startes to turn or tv off all the time.

I love my DVR!! I don't know what I'd do without it now. I had TiVO for a while, and now that Dish Network has DVR I have it through them instead. I record all my favorite shows and keep them so I can watch them whenever I want. I love it cuz you don't have to remember to change your channel to the things you want to watch and never miss your favorite shows, it always goes to the channel you want to watch. Otherwise, I would always miss all my favorite shows cuz I'd get busy and forget to put the channel on. LOL I only wish they would change it so you could record one channel while you watch another channel. That would make it perfect!

I know what you mean. I've been so spoiled by mine. Luckily with mine I can record a show and watch another show at the same time. But if I'm recording 2 shows at the same time I have to be watching one of them.

This is one thing I would like to have in my computer, however right noe is not the best time, I have several glog sites to mailtain and have not enough time to do blog for all of them, or perhaps i spend too much time on some and none is left to others specially when I reach myLot, LOL, I just love it here, there are so many ideas and new things that I discover here and just love to read and respond to discussions. thanks for sharing and reminding me to add this DVD download to my computer. Have a great day

We subscribed to DVR through Time Warner Cable about 5 months ago-- same time I switched from dial up internet to Road Runner. I love it! I work during the day and haven't watched my soap in years - It was the first thing I programmed to tape. My daughter is a pro at it- She is in her bedroom by 8 PM on school nights- Her favorite show Kyle XY is on at 8PM.. so she DVR's it. I don't mind having to FF through the commercials. I love being able to FF through some of the boring parts on the soap. We can only DVR 2 shows at any 1 time-- and you have to have your tv on 1 of them- So this is a bit of a pain-- Last night my daughter was DVRing Kyle XY-- and I was taping Dancing with the Stars for her-- I like to watch Deal or No Deal on the commercials-- So I had to cancel the Dancing-- otherwise you cannot flip off the station.

My first DVR was a Tivo. I really, really liked it. Our cable company started to really suck and we switched to satellite. Now our DVR is through the satellite company and I don't like it nearly as well. The learning curve on it is horrible! It almost has too many functions! It is very difficult and time consuming to swtich to watch a DVD for instance. However, as far as DVRs go, I honestly don't know how I did without one for years! It is soooo convenient to be able to pause the TV to go to the restroom or to get a snack. It is awesome to be able to play back something that you couldn't hear well or wish to see again. It is really something I'd hate to be without now!

I love my dvr! Mine is threw dish network. The only thing that I would like to be different is I would like to be able to watch one chanel and tape another on the same tv. If I have the capacity to do this, I have yet to figure it out. I usually will tape on one tv and watch another.I don't mind fast forwarding threw the commercials. It is great to be able to watch a show in 45 min rather than an hour:)
