What do you do to kill depression? What works for you and what does not?
Me? I pray about it, first of all. I absolutely avoid any alcohol or smokes, because those are best taken when you are celebrating something, not to avoid depression. I immerse myself in work, and working out, and getting things done. I might work more OT at work, spend more time in the gym, take care of other responsibilities, and whatnot. Getting things done and being productive usually helps me to beat the blues.

Yeah, I'll do the same thing. Start praying. Sometimes it gets pretty bad and I can't get myself out of the feelings and I'll call my folks and just tell them to keep me in prayer too. We end up chatting, encouraging each other, and praying for each other and that helps a lot. Some times...I'll get together with friends and just keep busy. Do you get depressed over the same things? Just curious.

Well, sometimes its unavoidable that we feel depressed for the day..but for the health its not a good side, i believe in Meditation which will balance our mind and helps to be normal at situations

It really depends on how depressed I am and what kind of depressed. There are some kinds of depressed where I need to just listen to mood music and write everything down. But if it's serious, I go spend time with family or I volunteer somewhere. I try to do something that makes me stop feeling sorry for myself and do good for others.

I use aromatherapy, and also pet therapy.
Aromatherapy is good for clinical depression, which I suffer from. There are certain oils that help to lift you during the day and certain oils that will help to relax you at night. Lavender especially is a good one for night too. It helps you sleep.
Pet therapy is something I have tried. It was part of the reason we got a Cat. She isn't a lap cat by any means but she does silly things and she brings a smile to my face at least twice a day.
She is something for me to focus on, and when I'm feeling down, she knows. Then she'll do something completely unexpected and bring a smile to me.
I know a lot of people would rather use the conventional method of anti depressants. I personally will not take those. After seeing the effects they had on my mom and my sister, it prompted me to go researching alternative methods.

I work outside in my flower beds. Humans need sunlight and it is good for them. My seasonal depression goes away when I start working outside.

I some of the same things you do. I pray about it and give my feelings to God, then I talk to my friends or if they are unavailable...my cat. Talking things out helps me deal and figure out why I feel the way I do. I read my Bible and listen to Christian music.

I think the best way to beat depression is to pay it no attention..Get busy ...do as much as you can ..to keep your mind and soul and body occupied.
Work and occupation and activities require the use of your mind so if you keep it busy with other things depression will not get your attention you will be too busy;)..Find activities..spend your free time doing things that are uplifting: Come to mylot..Chat with us ..we like you here.:)+

I agree prayer is very important. The next thing I do is to keep my usual worship routine, including choir practice, even if I am suffering a huge case of "I don't want to", because the music I get to practice ministers to my spirit, and stays with me all through the week. I am also in agreement that taking action helps to chase the depression dragon away, and allows clearer thinking. Other things are to make sure I am on solid ground nutritionally and getting enough sleep.
