I am one of those people who doesn’t believe that being poor is a hindrance to success or not getting an education. Even if one is very poor, one could still be successful and get a very good education and improve one’s lot in life. The ‘poor’ who gets shown on T.V. really irks me because they keep on harping and blaming the government and the system that they don’t have jobs or can’t get good education. They blame everybody except themselves. But the real reason why they are poor is because they have ‘poor mentality’. Poor mentality means sitting around thinking that manna from heaven ought to fall for them, or thinking that they should be given what they need and not strive for it, or thinking that being lazy and ‘drinking the day away’ is the best way to spend their time and in thinking that every answer to ones problem is money. ‘Poor mentality’ also mean thinking that it isn’t within one’s power and innate capabilities to achieve what one dreams to be.
Indeed, we will remain poor if we think we will always be poor or think poorly. So instead of blaming others and waiting for things or a miracle to happen, why can’t we make things happen and create our own miracles?

I agree. But sometimes even we work hard and harder for that miracle, we still end up of nothing and remains to be poor. I think, politicians are partly to blame why we are poor and got this poor mentality thing. They've always makes promises and lots more promises but still it remain a promise. They have the budget, but it goes to their pocket. Yes, we are also to blame because of our poor mentality. Thinking of the easiest way to get rich or instant richness. When could this miracle will happen if the country leaders has also this poor mentality.

I don't really believe that even if one works harder and harder, nothing will still happen and end up poor as you said. I am a very good example of life being fought so hard and not depending on anybody but still made it good. We should not blame the politicians because we are the ones who put them there in the first place. We should depend on NO ONE but ourselves and God.

No, Politicians make us discourage to strive hard. How can we be motivated if our leaders don't give us resources to be successful.
Not all people as lucky as you. What about us? I've strive so hard. I even work while studying and give money to my family for our daily consumption. And now i've finish my study, no good employment for me. Now who's partly to blame? Some competitive graduates are force to go abroad for a bigger salary. They can be a bigger use in our country. Now who's to blame? POLITICIANS....

I still believe that we make our own luck and if I am where I am now, it's because I am striving very hard. Motivation comes from within and not given by those 'politicians'. You are speaking of opportunities...jobs. However, don't forget that you can always make opportunities for yourself. If there is no job, turn whatever money that you have into something lucrative. Turn your hundred peso into thousands and even millions. Impossible? Think out of the box man...and your life will change.

we see it everyday. most people think that they're destined to be poor. they get contented with what they get. they are the people who rely solely on luck and coincidence. they dont value hard work. they believe that once one is poor, he would be poor forever. but it should be the other way around. being poor can be a driving force. a driving force to succeed. poor people know what it is to be poor, so they strive their very best to get out of that situation

I do agree. There will always be no harm in trying. Life is a series of trials and errors, and it's not always that we will be at the bottomest pit. I think that believing in one's self, and trying one's best to achieve one's goals would make one grow more mature, more learned, and even stronger. Besides, there are many poor people I know who made it in terms of studies. One buddy of mine who was a full scholar and would not always have food to eat, came out to be the valedictorian of our class. Others would even work part-time and study at the same time because they believe that they would be able to achieve their goals and would be able to succeed. Even without education, some became 'rags-to-riches' because they never stopped trying. As long as there's will, there's hope. There is no excuse for that. It's only the trap of laziness, lack of faith and hope, lack of will, and lack of initiative that's turns some into losers. Happy myLotting!

I really believe what you have said because I am a very good example of those poor poeople who worked so early in life just to get an education. My parents could never afford to send me to a private school for high school but I was determined to have a good education. I wasn't even an honor student and have no athletic skills but I manage to get enough support and get enough work so that I could finish school. It's all a matter of will and guts and hardwork for me.

I believe it is possible to start from the very bottom in life and rise to the top. Also, many people who are a so called success and are "rich" could fall and be left out in the cold. It is all a matter of attitude, perseverance, and how far that we are willing to go to become successful.

ya of course, mentality is one of the main thing that makes anyone be rich or poor.poor are not be poor or said to be a poor only by the mean of money but also by his own mentality.mentality make the men high as possible and also put down the morality low as possible.many poor people get the way without having no money but definetly have the support of the others.for ex:lalbhadhur shsatri ji,gandhi ji..make their own way only by their suport and honesty.they are not a rich by money but by talent and mentality .no one can beat u if you have extra determination and extra acheiving goal.if you are poor by the mean of money ,you can make more money only by your talent.knowlege is the real strenght of any one .
