I decided that I wanted to run a little experiment. So I started a discussion that was a bit controversial. I wanted to see if my blue star would suffer for stating my opinion even if it was not in any way against the rules and policies of myLot. You see, when I rate a discussion or a response, I rate it with a plus unless it goes against the guidelines of myLot. I was under the impression that this was what you were suppose to do. However, that is not the way people are using it. My 96/100 quickly dropped to 88/100. So, if you want to get and keep a blue star -- do NOT state your opinion unless it is a popular one!

It happens all the time and I find it so ridiculous. I don't know why people can't just follow the guidelines. I couldn't care less what I am rated. If I want to state my opinion then that's what I'm going to do. I think it is so petty to rate with a minus just because you don't agree or like what the person thinks or believes. I would like to see them do away with it altogether to be honest.

I couldn't agree more. I think the star is stupid. But I am going to post my opinion no matter what. If I wanted a Pollyanna answer to everything, I'd just tune in to the Disney Channel! LOL! Thanks for the response!

Even if I disagree with a topic....I still rate it positive.I think I may know which topic you are talking about and I just got done responding to it....but don't worry....you got a plus rating for it.It's really stupid that people would do that just because you have a different opinion than they do.I mean after all that's what makes mylot interesting and how ells can you have a good discussion unless you get different views on the subject.

LOL! Yes, I think you probably do know which one I am talking about! I have always rated a discussion or a response as to whether or not they are in compliance with the guidelines but I have learned that this is not the way it is done by mose people. Fortunatly, the rating doesn't really matter to me! Thanks for the response!

you must be joking? ill give you a plus for this one! that is wrong! people dont seem to understand it at all! i have never used the - rating! i report abuse if someone breaks mylot t&c thats it. i either give a plus or nothing! i find it wierd when my rating stays the same yet my star changes! that amused me when that happened to me! i am sorry to hear that the community did that to you just because you said what you thought. its awful to get slandered for your opinion!

I agree with you. Up till now, I have given a negative rating only if someone violated the guidelines. I guess that isn't the way it's suppose to be done. I'm just glad that the star has nothing to do with earnings and is, in fact, no more that a popularity contest. Thank you for your support and for your response!
