Hey everybody i think almost everyone on the internet will be on orkut... but recently i discoverd that orkut is still in the beta stage... A site with millions of users daily still in beta.... surprising isn't it???
If u have any doubts then go the orkut home page and have a close look at the logo on the right top of the page...

I intend to join orkut but with some negative or adverse comments I read about it, I am thinking twice or I might just as well stay in myLot and earn a little bit more than wasting my time in some other sites for social networking.

I have to say that it's just another social networking site, and I hadn't heard of it until I sw it mentioned on here.
To be honest, my experiences with the social sides of many web sites like Orkut, Myspace, facepartyy, etc. are that you get lots of people trying to form networks of size, not quality.
The best online networks that I belong to have formed out of people using 'subject specific' sites - like aa site about Amateur Radio or film making, for example. You then see people that you're interested in on those sites, contact them, then stay in touch through email, MSN, ec.
Things like Orkut, to me, are artificial - I don't believe that you can artificially grow communities like that.
