I would disagree with you on this matter, and from personal experience (and, my therapist has told me this), a large number of people suffering psychological problems, do so because they are out of touch with their inner self. Often depression can be due to the conscious and subconscious being out of sync!
One other problem with men, as opposed to women, is that when the first signs of depression appear, a woman is more likely to take some form of action, whilst a man (often raised by a society that tells you to 'pull yourself together' & 'get on with life') will try to struggle on, making the problem worse.
Either way, depression is a very debilitating and unpleasant disease, and my sympathies go out to anyone who suffers with it, regardless of gender.
Here's to many more good days for both of us, and hopefully a rosey future.
All the best, and thanks for another interesting posting.

You are right! In all culture, men are supposed to be the tough ones! There's no room for them to whine... Men are also prone to keeping their problems bottled up compared to women who prefer to spill their problems with friends and etc. Yes, I think depression is a disease indeed... Thanks for your response. May we counter this disease with much strength and integrity!! :

I guess yes, they are more prone to depression, why? it is because they think more than their spouses do.
They think what food to prepare, what cloths their spouses to wear, what food for their off-springs, etc, etc. Unlike us (men), all we think is how to give support for their financial needs and after that, no more.

Well, I guess women has more worries as they have to shoulder a lot of responsibilities of looking after for the whole family, ensuring everything goes right in the family front and also to please everyone! Tiresome, don't you think? Thanks for your response.

it might be true that women are more in touch to their emotional side than men, but i might disagree that women are much prone to depression than men. women tend to get mature emotionally first than men, thus they have total control over their emotions earlier than men. they could handle it well, but they just get carried away by it. women are emotional beings, men are rational. women are driven by what they feel and men are driven by what they think. so i could say that women are not prone to depression, but they're prone to giving in to their emotions.
