I want to work as a computer programmer so bad it hurts. I have a bs in business with an emphasis is data support systems, and an aa in computer programming. The last few interviews I have been at I have been shot down because I dont have any work experience. To help overcome that I am starting to work on my MCAD.
Any ideas that some one might have, I ask you to post here. I am almost at the breaking point, and I want to quit looking.

I agree with the other poster that you should make some programs of your own. There are a lot of forums in the internet where programmers share their programs and stuff. Maybe you could start little, like programming games. Or maybe there's an internship program in your country for people in your field. Internships are always good programs to earn experience.

I totally understand you. I've been there myself a few years ago, when I was fresh out of college.
First of all I think working on your MCAD is a brilliant idea which will help you a lot. Another suggestion I have is to try and make some demo projects or volunteering work (as a programmer of course) or any other activities that you'll be able to mention them in your resume. For example I participated in Microsoft's Image Cup contest that year. I've also done a sort of practice project and mentioned it too, along with the firm I did it at. The idea is to try to have any activity programming related and you'll get to fill your CV in no time :)
Another idea would be to be on the lookout for firms that want to hire beginners. There are a few firms like that, looking for talented people with little or no experience so that they'll be more maleable than people who have years of practice behind them and have formed certain habits. You never know what you might find. :)
Lots of success and keep us updated :)
