With the changing times, a lot of things are changing in our lifestyle. The way we live, the way we work, the way we move around, the way we look at life........
And..... the way we "Read"......
Has the changing technology changed the way you read ?
The introduction of E-books has really changed the way we take reading as. With our busy schedules and our mobility problems it sure is difficult to carry books with us. And the introduction of E-books sure is a great step.
Have you ever a read a book in its "E-book Avtar". Ohhh yes, there are some good things and some bad things attached to this.
If you are reading an E-book, you dont need to carry it. You just have it on your desktop and read it as you find the time on your hands. E-books help authors reach places that they have never thought of reaching. E-books reduce the cost of the book itself coz there is no printing cost..... no logistics and transportation or shipping cost....... and yes...... you save the "Trees" as these are green books...... no paper used.
But....... with E-books....... you dont have book marks. Though, some E-books have started introducing "Book-marks" feature that lets a user to start where they have left. These books also offer a "search" option to the readers. The users can search for a particular line or subject and land directly on the particular page.
Have you tried to switch to the E-books avtar of Books as yet ?

My personal favourite time to read a book is when I'm in bed before I go to sleep. For this reason I would not be able to get used to an e-book as I end up putting a bookmark in my book and then the book under my pillow and then going to sleep. It really would not be practical to put my PC under my pillow, it just wouldn't fit LOL. Seriously though I have read short stories on the net but never a full length book, I should try it some time, thanks for starting the discussion though, it's given me food for thought and encouraged me to try an e-book soon :)

You have a valid point in here. When we are reading those big books...... we all prefer to read them just before going to bed and it would be not be wise to go to sleep on your keyboard ...... lol...
Maybe, you can try it out on a laptop......
Take care....... Enjoy Mylot and Be Safe....... :)

I love paper books for anything I want to keep permanently. With an e-book you have to stay at your computer or somebodies computer to read it. A real book you can go into a different room and relax and read it.
You can go to a friends house and read to several people at the same time,
you can read it on your way to work in the bus
e-books you can lose if your computer crashes and you haven't saved.
If you have too many ebooks and big programs you can use up all your storage space,
for people who don't have a computer they can't read an ebook
etc

I prefer a regular book. Something about reading makes me feel as if I am momentarily in another world. Curling up on the bed with a good book. Reading while waiting for an appointment. Whatever the case may be, a regular book just helps with the "feel" of escaping. If you are using a Laptop, there is a hard reminder of reality right in front of you. There is nothing like getting to the bottom of a page in a book, with your finger on the edge of the page eagerly awaiting the flip to continue on with your story.

I preffer using the traditional book than ebook. You cannot concentrate reading on a text in front of the computer. Though technology is changing ebook is much more convinient and can be downloaded without paying for it than an orgininal copy of a book. So, as what i've said traditional book typed written on a special paper is better.
