On several ocassions on my constantly participation and posting of discussions here in MYLOT, I noticed that some of users, especially the Westerners thought of Filipinos as a lower race than them. I mean discrimination here. Some respondents of my posts react negatively not on my posts but the fact that I am a Filipino. (This is just what I think an feel. Nothing more than what I thought.)
Who among you guys experienced like this?
But of course I also found MANY foreign friends here and indeed good friends.
Well I like to constantly participate with your the discussions. Please add me to your friends list.
Thanks

Discrimination is really prevalent. I have experienced that the minute I entered the US. It is not just against Filipinos, though. My husband is a US-born Dominican and he often complains of the same problem. Don't be discouraged. There are still more open-minded people of all races out there. Keep on posting and show them that Filipinos are smart, loving, beautiful people.

And they thought they are the only people who got minds, who got emotions and they feel as if the whoole universe is created for them. It's about time that we discrimate the discrimators and have a taste of their own medicine. Whenever we encounter a discrimination, we should fight back by expressing what we feel. It's about time for them to take this lesson. In myLot, everybody is equal though not the same, we are all partners here.

i havent experienced racism here in mylot for the past month that i have been here. i havent seen any derogatory remarks against any particular race. i do hope some people get over their superiority complex and accept the fact that based on the genome, there is no superior race.

I am proud of who I am because I am a Filipino, born and raised in the Philippines, and I want the world to see that Filipinos have great minds and we are intelligent enough to answer and participate in any kind of discussions. They should not underestimate us Filipinos, here in this world, all are equal...

I know that you requested Filipino members only and I am not, but I'm going to respond anyway because this bothers me.
There are racist, narrow minded, ignorant people in every race and every country.
On behalf of the western world I would like to apologize for the hurt that someone from the west has caused you. We are not all like that.
I want you to remember something...when someone treats you poorly it makes that person inferior to you not the other way around.
If someone is so narrow minded that they feel the need to make another person feel small then the ignorance is theirs. You are the better person in a situation like that.
I pray this never happens to you again. Keep posting. You are a good person.

But theres really discrimination here and in reality, especially with those who belong to the third world countries like Asian countries.

I'm an American, and since I have the freedom to post, I will.
WOuld you care to give an example of where you were singled out because of your race? I just hardly see this happen on Mylot and really have never seen anyone reply with prejudice simply because of race. There are people on Mylot from all over and I just really have never noticed that happening.

I reported it to mylot and it was deleted. A post regarding circumcission and beliefs here in the Philippines.
Here in mylot and everywhere there are really discrimination. We have to admit that there people who think they are better than others especially with those people who belong to the third world countries and those people who are earning 50 times the value of what we earn here in the Philippines. (1 USD == 50 Php)
But there are also good people HERE. I mean GOOD friends.

First and foremost, forgive my intrustion. I'm what you'd call an American mutt, American born with bloodlines of several European and native American blends. That being said, let me just say I gave you a "plus" rating, and I just wanted to say that "haters" of all kinds are everywhere, but please don't fall victim to the all-too-easy prejudicial stereotype. I hate no man or woman on the basis of their skin color, race, or nationality. Biologically, we share common descent. Spiritually, as the expression goes, we are one. We all feel and we all bleed. To make this world a better place, remember not to do to others--that which they do to you that causes you pain--in other words, don't sink to their level. Feel, and spread the Love. Peace. David A. Reedy...

Remember there's a song by Paul McCartney that goes like: "...people are the same wherever we go, there is GOOD and BAD in anyone..." I do not generalize. Actually, I have not experienced this kind of discrimination yet in myLot as I do not really use strong words with my replies and do not usually touch on controversial and sensitive topics. I am aware that this is an international community and the things that I might say might hurt other people's values and culture. If however, I hurt someone in that way and naturally they get angry or even turn violent by using harsh words, I will just ignore it. Sometimes people only react with what is said about them. If I were the one who provoked the situation, I will just listen to what they have to say as my way of showing respect for their opinion. If, however, they discriminate against me for no reason at all, that's another story.

Youre right. We should be very careful and sensitive in our posts and replies. A careful consideration is a must to avoid violent and offensive discussions. thank you for your reply. :)

Please don't be mad at me, but don't you think that you are being racist when you post a discussion that the title says it is only for Filipino? I guess that if you want to discuss discrimination you choose the wrong title.
It is something that happens to everyone, not only Filipinos.

I think theres no wrong about the title. I asked for the response of my fellow filipino here. I want to know their side. Thats the reason why I chose such title. Like whats you said, disctimination happen to everyone.
I JUST want to know the side of my fellow filipinos.
Im not a racist. I hate no people or race.
I suggest go to OTHER POST at the same topic discrimination.:)

I am Indian, but I would like to comment. I have never received any abusive responses about me being Indian. But that could be because I haven't started too many topics. I think, the abusive comments that people make have more to do with the topic a person has started than his place of origin. I mean, some people are intolerant towards anything that is not in agreement with their beliefs, so something in completely conflict with their beliefs calls for infuriation. And then, we all have something or the other as prejudice for people in different parts of the world. When the person gets infuriated, he joins that up with the place of origin and that magnifies the intensity of the abuse. I get a feeling that, had you been in USA too, you would have received more or less the same kind of replies for those topics.
Ofcourse, I'm not trying to justify their behavior, I'm only putting my analysis. Don't take such abuses seriously. The only person who can really cause you hurt is you yourself.

Im just talking of just a few incidents and nothing or not as a whole. As what I emphasized in my above post, few, several (please visit other users post re discrimination)
I enjoy my stay here because there greater who are good person and good friends just like you are.
As what I emphasized with my post (Its just what I thought, as I am entitle to my own opinion) as every thing has its exception.
I mean nothing bad at it. There are good person all over here in my lot regardless of their origin. One of my constant companion and friend here who constantly reply with my discussions is from AMERICA and other one is from UK. And of course you.
Thank you for sharing your response here.

I never had an experience like this. But i will tell you one thing.
I'm working here abroad and working with multicultural company. As far as I know (though I'm not trying to discriminate other race here), we are more understood/considered by the western people. We know that Filipino are westernized and the culture is almost the same. Unlike the others. Though we are all from asia and I'm still proud of that. I may say that not all people from the west are VERY INTELLIGENT to discriminate us..There are also average Joe's over there. They speak english fluently but they don't know how to speak tagalog. Me? I can speak both the languages (even a small spanish).
anyways, we cannot generalize them. I know some americans, british, even italians, they are nice people.
So don't feel discouraged, we Filipinos are here even physically outside our country.

I haven't had any negative experience here on mylot so far, and I thank the Lord for that. One of my best friends here on mylot is british, and another one that helps me earn money through the internet is an american living in Las Vegas. I haven't personally met them, but I feel that I can trust them because they respect me for who I am. If you feel that a reply to one of your posts is racist, you can always contact the mylot administrator and complain. I'm pretty sure they will react to it quickly. I used to tolerate people who put me down because I would like to understand them until a friend of mine told me to stand up for myself. Now I do, and I make it clear to people that if they want respect from me then they should respect me too. Otherwise I'd put my foot far up into his a** to make him do it (lol) !
