What to look out for in Courtship

In time past courtship was a necessity before marriage. I want to know does courtship really exist these day? How is it carried out? Can one get married without courting?

Courtship isn't really observed that much here in our country nowadays. Before, courting is done by the man visiting the woman's house every night bringing her flowers or chocolate or anything that she might like. Then he serenades her. There might be other form of courtship that I don't know about because I wasn't able to witness it. Nowadays, couple usually start meeting each other somewhere then they begin dating and the rest is history. As of now, I think that yes, one can get married without having to go on courtship.

I think that courtship has turned into dating, and getting into serious relationships. We bypass the father part, though if you're feeling that you want to be serious about the female and you're the male, you should definitely meet the girl's family. That's part of courtship as well. Women have just become much more independent and that's part of the reason why courtship is no longer really necessary, IMO. Women are making up their own minds, and though it may be a mistake at times, other things have changed to where we don't have to stay with the person we marry and it's easy to get it dissolved. Divorce is as common as getting married now, which is fairly sad, because people aren't always willing to put as much effort into making something work knowing how easily they can back out of it. Also, it depends on what country you're in, on whether you can get married without it. Countries like the third world ones in the Middle East, you have to use the courtship rituals, and sometimes the woman never meets the man her father has picked for her, besides to marry him. It varies no matter where you are, and has many different forms.
