Is it wrong that I taught my 5 year old niece to say "You n'wah"? A swearword from the game morrowind. Although it dosn't really mean anything i find some people take offence! Have you taught any children fake swearwords from either a video game or another languge?

Back in the late 1970's & early 1980's when the original Battlestar Galatica was on, the swear term from that show "frack" was pretty popular, amoung fans anyway. I didn't hang out too much with non-fans back then, I guess I still mostly associtate with either my friends who are fans or at my mom's with a lot of gentile little old people.

They still use that term on the New Battlestar Galactica. You know I watched the original but I don't honestly remember it. Of course the last time I saw the show was many years ago and I wasn't that old at the time so I might not have caught on to it.

I don't approve of ill manners or curse words taught to any child at any age. It isn't cute, and they grow up and it gets worse.

My neice loves to use the one word from Lilo and Stitch. I have no clue on how to spell it but it's something Stitch says that sounds like he's cursing. I don't see anything wrong with it. Reading your post all I could think of was the one episode of the tv show "Recess". The one boy was being suspended for using the made up word "Whomps" and it ended up going infront of the school board. When the character judging it found out that that the swear word was that he just laughed and told the adults to basically get a life. That kids do that and it's nothing to be worried about.

My kids delight in using 'swear words' that are totally made up from Farscape and from Battlestar Galactica. They are Frack and Frell. I don't mind, I think it is kind of funny. I wouldn't be teaching anyone else's kids swear words, although my kids also know how to say, "SHUT UP!" in three different languages!

I don't think it was wrong. I wouldn't know what it meant and I don't think too many other people would either, so I doubt it will get her into trouble. I haven't taught anyone any make believe swear words!
