How many of you myLotians have chosen a default discussion avatar for some or all of your interests? Does this give points to the person who uploaded that photo to begin with? I think it probably does, but if anyone knows for sure, feel free to share that information. My favorite default I've chosen is for my interest "Lost" (a TV show). I picked my favorite character, Sayid, as my default picture.

i would rather use an avatar than my own picture to lessen descrimination. it is safer for me to do it so it would be nuetral when it comes to discussions.

In fact, avatars make the other users get curious about who the user really is. The tendency of the one who is intrigued by it, goes to your profile to know more about you. Meaning, it is a plus.

I meant the dicussion avatars, not the main avatar that people see when you post. Like my interests aremylot.com, relationships, movies, etc. You know you can pick a main picture for each of those, so that when those interests are updated that is the picture that shows up?

I don't think anyone else benefits from the photo I choose for some of my interests. I do know I got paid for uploading my own photos and that was extra on top of the $0.01 per day for posting photos on discussions or responses..

I do believe that the uploading member gets some form of credit or recognition if you rate their images, although I had not considered the aspect of actually using the image as a default avatar for an interest. I only have one interest listed, which is computers, and the image that I use is one that I uploaded myself for this purpose. There seem to be a lot of factors involved such as rating of posts, images and best responses that affect the overall status of a member, but I have no idea how this is reflected in the earnings algorithm.

Pictures uploaded in a discussion you have started gets paid, too. I don't know though as to how much you'd get for it. As for the points, I am not knowlegeable about that. Until this time, I don't know yet how to upload photos. (Ifind it funny that I am too slow in learning the intricacies of mylot). I am sorry to tell you this. I am planning to get myself taught how to do it, as soon as, I can have sufficient time for it plus the person to teach me will have to be around, too.
