Do you search discussions for the same topic before starting a new one?

If it's something unique to me like one of my cats being funny or something like that, I don't. If I have a question about something I'll search MyLot to see if anyone else has posted the same question already. If no one has I'll go ahead and start the discussion.
If my search turns up a similiar discussion started (and ended) several months ago, I see no harm in starting a new one.
What do you do? Do you search? Or do you start the discussion when the inspiration hits you? Thanks!

I don't search because I think the point of this site is to keep talking in fact, when I found something that I've already answered somewhere else I force myself to answer again.
did you noticed that in this same topic of yours there is one very similar on the "related topics" section on the bottom?

No I didn't notice that. The discussions change everytime I come to this page. This time I'm seeing discussions about one liner discussions, 1 word answers, comments on responses, how are you motivated to post discussions and earnings going up on Mylot. Thanks and keep talking!

Yes, I always search myLot to see if a discussion already exsists that is like the one I am beginning to post. If there is an exsisting discussion I risk mine being deleted or being accused of copying the other discussion! The myLot guidelines advise that we should always check for exsisting discussions before posting. If I see that a similar discussion was started but it was over 3 months ago, I go ahead and start mine.

Yes, i do search for same topic before starting a new one. This will help mylot in making the mylot clean from repeats and unnecessary posts. This make their server a lot less heavier. I feel that everyone should follow this habit before starting a new discussion in mylot to help keep mylot clean.

No I don't. I guess I should. But when the spirit hits I just go with. I feel I may have a different spin on the discussion

I just ask the question when it hits me and when I really want to know or talk about something at that moment. Once I started off a discussion, and another member came on and ranted to me that they had started the same question a few days before...I think they were very upset, and I had to go back and say that I did just ask on a whim and did not deliberately try to 'steal' her questions....
