Most who regularly respond to my fishing posts know that I prefer to use artificials. However this morning I went out and took a bunch of leftover mealies with me. Well I decided to fish them with a bobber. Something that I have not done in a long time.
Well I have got to tell ya I had a blast. I ended up catching nothiong more than sunnies but was using my ulta lite so they all felt nice ( ya know for a sunny ). I know that for most of us sunnies are kind of the training grounds.
I must have cought 50 of them in about 2.5 hours. And wanted to take a moment to remind all of my fellow fisher'ers how much fun they can be.
And by the way. If ya haven't fished a bobber in years jive it a shot. There is still something magic about watching it being pulled under.

Afraid I've always preferred a good old worm and a bobber. One of the best days we ever had was we went on a road trip not planning on fishing but as always had the poles in the trunk. We didn't however have any bait so opted for pieces of cold hotdogs - we got a nice batch of bass and a couple pike out of this little stream we found on the drive.
I love watching the bobber when the little ones are playing with it - wishing they could get the whole thing and nibbling away until I have to rebait.

ya know I haven't done it in so long. They always just sat in the bottom of my tackle box. But not anymore.

lol glad to hear you had fun. we dont care what we catch as you know as long as we are having fun and spending time together. we like perching with the kids when nothing is biting they seem to always bite so it picks up the spirits lol. good luck on your next trip. if you get some spoonbill and are coming through this way please bring me some lol.

Fishing panfish with an ultralight is a blast...and often overlooked, but every spring I always try to get one good weekend in on bluegills and sunnies. After that though its time for artificials and bass.
