Computer Problems

Until now, I do only mylot whenever I am in the computer. Yet, I have already encountered lots of problems which are mostly internet related. Suddenly, the internet connection goes off while I am posting a discussion or a response. There are times when it is too slow, it eats up my patience. When I listen to my kids talk about their online gaming, they are bothered by this, too. There are times when my sons flare up because they have lost something valuable to the game in the process.
Please share your observations on this. I believe that there are plenty of us who have been encountering problems with the net connection we have. There might be someone who will pick it up from here and invent an internet booster just what they did with the tv antenna, they came up with an antenna booster. I've just been considering the possibility...it can happen.

I am tempted to believe that it is this #7 item which has been causing us the problem. All those you have mentioned from 1-6 are within the control of the user. However, the last one is the thing which we cannot have any control of whatsoever.

sir, if you are using a dial up connection, expect that always. i have been through that and this is the reason why i get rid of my dial up and got a broadband connection. so far with my smart bro, in two months time now, i never experienced any problems. with my computer's RAM of 256mb i can do anything in the computer quicker and without any interruptions.
dial ups will soon be replaced totally with DSL or broadband connections.

I don't understand then why this is happening to us. Maybe we will air our complaint to the smart bro office regarding this problem. Our computers have 1 gigabyte ram each. We have upgraded everything about these computers to speed up processing. We are currently thinking of availing of bayantel's isp, as soon as, it becomes available in our area. We have received information that they are expanding this year and they offer as much as 1.5 megabyte net speed.

Aha! I feel really good to know that I have someone around here who shares this with me. No, I am not in the negative side. I just had a sigh of relief. I was so frustrated these past few weeks and when I decided to call the isp, since I can hardly access the internet already, they were on vacation for the holy week. Anyway, I hope that you will be able to remedy that problem too, sailor.

It's a good suggestion. It is possible to create a booster for internet connection and hope that they could invent it sooner. As far as i know, computer viruses and our Internet Service Provider or ISP are mainly to blame why we experience a very slow connection. Almost all ISP now have this problem because of earthquake in Japan last year. If i were you, consult a computer technician regarding this matter because it might have hardware or software problem aside from connection problem.

Thank you for your suggestion, lextoper. It is well taken. The technician is just a neighbor of ours, anyway. And we have been continuously asking for his service as regards upgrading our computers from time to time.
I thought though that they have already remedied the effects of those Japan and Taiwan earthquakes on the internet. It is sad, that those earthquakes had caused us so much trouble for quite a long period of time already. Yes, I can remember my sons telling me that those earthquakes had caused a lot more of damage than perceived, including the speed of internet access.

Our pc is fine. Thank you for your concern. But you are right to say that the pc will have to be maintained properly. We have a neighbor computer technician whom we can call anytime of the day. We are lucky on this count.

If yours is a purely connection problem, then high chance it is your ISP. Contact your Internet Service Provider and see what they can do. Otherwise, it might have to do with your own computer.

We contacted the internet provider and it is okay now. I hope that it will not come to the point again when I cannot access the internet at all.

Perhaps there is also a need for mylot to upgrade its server because there are so many users already. But aside from this, the isp maybe at fault in our recent case. I will have to contact them then on this.

Check for a virus and/or spyware
You also may need to defrag the computer.
Also, make sure you delete cookies and temporary internet files that can bog it down.
Do you do regular updates?
I have DSL and love it. I did have one time when it started running slow and the company sent out a tech who found that the connection outside was compromised.

I realize now that there is a need for me to contact the isp. The antenna might have been adversely affected by the strong winds we had last week. This very slow internet access we had been experiencing started just about the same time.

I also encounter the same problem with you my friend.Especially during peak time our DSL connection is too slow wherein it also eats up my patience.I don't think so that antenna booster would help but still it's the main server that is having a problem here.Maybe our internet provider should find ways to improve their services in rodder for us users to satisfy their services.

I can see that from your point of view, there is a possibility that the problem was due to a peak use of the internet connection by the subscribers. If this is so, then the usual speed should have been back by Tuesday, as it was the day the long vacation ended. However, this information is very useful. Thank you for sharing this with me. This is another point I will be considering next time a problem like this takes place.

The connection times out only when you get a bad I.P. address, that is if you are using dynamic ip addressing with dsl service. Everytime my connection times out, I check my current ip address and then I would refresh my connection and it will obtain a new i.p address. sometimes I would get a series of bad ip addresses and I would reset my modem. It would be good to have cable internet and static ip address for dsl connecton but they are too expensive.

I'll see to this. I'll need clarification of some things, really. A lot used to say that having a wireless connection is the best one so far. Now, we are starting to have second thoughts. It seems that the connection can be easily affected by strong winds as it comes with an antenna.
