I am not allergic to MSG; but, something a lot of people don't know is that if you have other allergies - MSG makes them worse. Johns Hopkins Medical Center did a study and found that if you are not allergic to MSG; but, you are having an allergic reaction to something else; the MSG will increase the strength of the allergic reaction by 150%. They said that if a person would normally get a rash from something; MSG would make the reaction turn into hives. If the allergy normally made a person break out in hives: the MSG could actually give them anaphylaxis and become life threatening. So, anyone with any type of allergy should avoid it.

I have a cousin who has it. he just turns red and feels really bad when he ingest something that has even the smalles amount of MSG in the food. i guess its selective who are allergic and not. But I guess if you use it heavily you could get it too.

I am not and I am glad that I am not because I love chinese food but I have a friend that is and she gets really bad migraines from MSG also
