Do you always assume people know what your talking about?

I have noticed that people post discussions about stuff that happens in their country and not where i live, and they ask questions about it. I personally assume that people will know what i'm asking about when i post a discussion or make a comment. And when i look at it later i think, will they know what im talking about? How about you? Do you assume this? Do you try to direct your discussions at everyone? Or just the people who can relate?

I'm pretty sure they're aware that not all the 86,129 mylotters will understand what they are talking about. I think that when they post questions that are related to their particular country, it's usually directed to that particular population here at mylot. I look at it as posting something about CSS for example. I don't know a thing about it except the fact that I can't figure it out. Only a particular group of people will know what it is and that is a given, in my opinion.

I always try to post discussions in general topic to which almost everybody can relate. If sometime you can't think a global idea also you can always target your own countrie's members and can post topics accordingly. As Mylot is full of people from whole world you can post any regional stuff. There will be lots of people who will understand that and will respond to that topic. And also if somebody does not understand and get interest then they will ask you in their respond and you can make clear things about your topic in your comment.

I do try to make my topics as "international" as possible. Logically, my discussions will then have a wider reach. ^^ But if you can't think of questions outside of your country, that's ok too. You have your own niche group to answer the questions. ;-)

It's simple.. if i can't understand the topic like cricket or any bollywood celebrities being asked here i just ignore and read the next post. Maybe this is intended for the people in the same country as the one who started it. I tried as much as possible that my posts here are general in nature in which everybody can relate. But I love to reply on posts of my fellow fiipinos here regarding topic about our country and culture.
